No mobile data after upgrading Z5 Compact to 32.2.A.0.305

I just upgraded my Z5 compact, and lost all mobile data access.

EDIT: I'm located in Norway and have Telenor as the operator.

I've tried rebooting my phone, often after each setting change, with no effect.

I've tried:

- Checked the data provider

- Turned off and on again Mobile Data

- Turning off Roaming

- Turning off Power Saving

- Changing to 3G only

- Changing to 4G

- Redownloaded Internet Settings from the network provider

- .. and probably more

Nothing seems to work. There doesn't seem to be a problem with my network provider, which I didn't expect as it happened immediately (I think - had mobile access some hours earlier) after upgrading.

Is someone else experiencing the issue and/or knows a fix?

Manually selecting GSM did the trick, going back to 4G again and everything works. Weird bug with a weird fix, but I'm glad it's working again!

Same here on E6853 (Xperia Z5 premium). Telenor is carrier. Only 3G after manually editing APN.

Sony needs to step up their game and fix this ASAP because owning this phone has been as far from a premium experience I've ever experienced with a mobile phone.

Try sending SMS "fiks internett" to 1999. Then change access point from telenor.smart to telenor, then restart. Worked for my z5 compact.

This is (expeltive deleted). My phone (Xperia Z5 E6653) is paralyzed because of this update.

After wasting hours trying to solve the problem the only mobile network I can get up is a weak 3G.

My provider is Telenor Norway and I am in the 4G zone.

Come on Sony, get your sh!t together and FIX THIS!!!!!!

Ready to buy a burning Samsung instead of this (expeltive deleted).

NB! I see an moderator has gone in an edited my response and removed my expletives.

Put you own expeltives in the blank spaces...

I am in Hong Kong, the carrier is "CMHK(China Mobile Hong Kong)". My phone donot have SIM lock. My friend is using Z5 and she is also the same carrier, we can use VoLte to phone each other before this update. Now her Z5 still can use Volte, but my Z5 compact can only get 4G nework for internet, but when I phone other guys who are also in the same carrier;s network, only my Z5 compact's Volte is disappering.:smileygeek::smileygeek:

That doesn't work for me. And now it appears that everytime I start the telephone the mobile network disappears and I have to search for a network all over again. Still Sony's responsibility to fix this.

Correction: got data and cell working by selecting GSM, but I never get LTE / 4G anymore so I guess there's still something for Sony to fix!

Got the same problem here, but it seems like I have fixed it. Sending "fix internet" to 1999 would not work in first place since I do not have any mobile connections. Not sure what exactly fixed this, perhaps just switching to network mode GSM (as others have suggested) did the trick. I did what Jonblund did, I now got back VoLTE and mobile data. This is the steps for XPeria Z5 Compact.

  1. Go to Backup&Reset -> Network settings reset. Reset your network.
  2. Still in Settings. More->Mobile Networks->Preferred network type. Set this to GSM. You should now get connection to the mobile network, and should be running on Edge for mobile data.
  3. Resend mobile data settings. Go to More -> Internet settings, and choose to resend the settings.

This worked for me. Perhaps the last two steps is sufficient to get working again. REMEMBER to go to More->Mobile Networks->Preferred network and set preferred network type to "4G".
