Microphone Problem only in Regular Calls| Lolipop 5.0.2

Hi everyone,

I have Z1 for one year, and it was really nice time, recently i upgrade to Lolipop 5.0.2, but then the mic stop working good.

If i make or recieve  a normal call, the other side can not hear me well, the vocie is bad and sometime its gone totally.

But if i try to recode a voice or movie or even make an internet call using Watts App or Facebook massenger, the mic is okay and fine.

Only in regular call it stop working good.

Any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on latest .232 and still have the same problem. Mic is extremely low sensitivity.

They work fine in messenger, hangouts etc. but in diagnostics or in calls their sensitivity seems to drop to extremely low levels.

Both my mics have the same problem and along with the fact they work fine in other apps leads me to think this is a software problem. In safe mode the quality improves a little but not enough.

I have reset, repaired and flashed different firmwares with no luck. Next step is to flash a 4.4 and see.

UPDATE

Ok, I fixed by enabling Ok Google from any screen. Disabled it again and mic still works ok. So for me must have been some wierd software bug with the OK google thing.

No idea why that works.

UPDATE 2

Further testing - enabling noise suppression kills mic again. grrr

UPDATE 4

Microphones still faulty. Flashed 4.4 and no fix. Tempted to replace flex with mic on but given problem is with both mics and they work fine on other apps, not sure that will help. It may be a motherboard issue for me. Something is telling the mics to reduce sensitivity.

This is totally crazy from Sony.. Why is there not a fix for this issue. I have a phone that is now not fit for the purpose as people can't hear me. I have had my Z1 for over 2 years so it's not in warranty. But, it shouldn't matter. It's clear by all these posts that there is an issue after the Lollypop upgrade came out.

I don't understand how Sony can't replicate the problem on any of their own Xperia handsets to fix this issue.

I just hope that I am not at a scene of an accident and need to call the emergency services to help someone and the operator at the other end of the phone wont be able to hear me. The world wide press coverage from this wouldn't be good for someone.. all be it Sony or Android.

How can you have a phone that works great for APPs and games but is totally unfunctional as a Phone. I think Sony should offer everyone who has an affected phone a FULL refund of the money they spent to buy their product so they can go and by a phone that works as a phone.

My wife has this problem too. Others says that voice is cracking, roboting, etc..

Phone was repaired (warranty) and I checked the list they replaced mic and other hardware to new components. After month waiting she got her phone back and the problem is still there. So seems to be software issue.

I will try things posted on this forum. Havent tried turning OK Google off or resetting phone via PC companion it seems I have to try those too.

Software is latest version ofc etc..

I untick ok Google and also all ticks off from calling settings like suggested here.

Problem solved so far..

Absolutely 100% agree with Buccy's post a few before this. I feel really ripped off. £16.99 a month locked in to a 2 year contract!!!!

I do think Sony should not bother trying to fix these phones when they come in with the microphone problem. They should just quickly put their hands up, say sorry, and send a replacement phone - a different model please!

Somewhere (on this thread or another) someone posted the analogy that it's like a very high spec car with no wheels.... you have millions of gadgets, but can't go anywhere. In the case of the Sony Xperia phones, we can do pretty much anything except make calls and use voice activated commands. What's the point of that?

Hallelujah!
Having tried everything, like you, to solve the problem of the mic unsuccessfully (factory reset, repair via Xperia Companion, downgrade to older roms, cleaning the grid with toothbrush, disabling background noise suppression and improved voice options, removal of the animated wallpaper, plug and unplug of the hands-free kit 666 times during one night of full moon, defenestration with catapult, voodoo doll with the effigy of the SONY technical director) I finally took out the ultimate tool that had helped me so much in the past to resurrect some of my Hi-Fi devices, I named - drum roll - my hair dryer.
2-3 minutes application directly on the grid of the microphone until the hand burn and the mic is like new.
Apparently this wonder of waterproof technology was feeling a little wet. Sweety pie.
My next smartphone tutorial: improve 4G reception with Elnett strong hold hairspray.
Stay tune geeks ...
Thanks WHO ?
