I have been using the magnetic calbe to charge my Z2.

However lately i realise on disconnectin the cable, the port comes off from the phone... the magnetic portion comes off either the top or the bottom when the magenetic cable gets pull away.. is this normal?

anyone else experience this? should i be sending my phone for repairs?

I am glad to read some people are resolving easily or at least are getting some support from the retailers.
I hope there will be more users reporting the same issue, just curious to see what Sony will say.

By the way, I am not very familiar with this forum but shouldn't we expect an official response from a sony moderator about this topic??? It seems like there is only complaints but no proposed resolutions on Xperia care.....

Hi all,

I've been charging my Z2 with the dock sonce I receievd the phone on launch day here in the UK and I've noticed it getting harder to get it to chrage even when it appears to be on the dock properly.

This morning I took the phone from the dock and the dock pins in the phone were stuck to the charging dock. Slightly_frowning_Face

I had noticed that the pins moved a bit but I assumed that was by design.

Now I know it was faulty.

Hi, I'm in Sweden and just wanted to say that I have the same problem on my Z2. Used the DK-36 magnetic charging cradle and after a few days use the connector on the Z2 came loose and stuck to the magnet in the cradle. I've turned the Z2 in at the place where I bought it, they will send it to a repair center, third-party Delta something. They will investigate and let me know if the problem is covered by warranty. It will take 2-3 weeks before I get it back...

Not very happy right now, especially since I got the DK -36 to keep the water / dustproof flap covering the USB charging port from wearing out.

Will post again once I get a report back from the service center.

And so my magnetic module has finally been pulled out by the dk-36 dock today. Angry_Face I've plugged it back into the handset but I presume the dock will pull it out again (I have not tried it yet). Shouldn't these modules have a lip inside to prevent this from happening? It seems these modules are held in place by 2 pins and glue? When you have a magnet pulling at this module it is bound to be released surely, it's a laughable design flaw.

That's great to hear some people have got their phone fixed under warranty. It seems this issue is a mixed bag depending what center you send your phone to.

I've read some people have applied strong glue to the contact pins and stuck it back in, but if it does not connect correctly then you're stuffed.

And so I shall begin my adventures in trying to get this fixed under warranty with my phone dealer. Goodluck guys.

better take it out, remove original double side tape and replace with new. otherwise you may lose this part some day like me.

i only found shop who sells z1 charging connector, not exactly same as z2, but i think can also be used on z2.

i bought 3mm double side tap, and need to cut into 1mm, so better buy 1mm tapes.

Ok, thats me officially mad as **bleep**.

I contacted Vodafone UK about this issue and sent the phone off for repair, to which I've just receieved a text saying that its not a warranty repair and that it will cost £190 to fix.

Called them to say complain but they simply said that I've misused the phone and that I have 2 choices, pay £190 or buy a new phone. How **bleep** dare they. Stay way from Vodafone if you can (I certainly will in future)

Sony this is your issue beecause you have stupidly declared that this fault isn't under warranty, I have never misused the phone, if you can find any other marks on the phone to indicate a drop then fair enough but you won't be able to. I used your overpriced dock which has sucked the charging pins from inside the dodgily constructed phone.

Loved the phone for the first 2 months but frankly this is atrocious and I will be going to whickever consumer rights people will listen.

Oh and if my Xperia Z2 tablet does the same? I take it thats not covered either you bunch of crooks.

There's no need that phone is dropped previously  ...

I strongly believe that the problem is in chargers, some of them have too strong magnet and you need quite a force to disconet the phone from the charger.

Hi,

How about your phone reparation? Is it covered by warranty?
