I have the same experience.
Some more observations:
1. Switching off the phone while it is charging does allow the battery to charge more.
2. This morning I found my Z2 (off) blinking at 2Hz as said, indicating it was at 21% charge (after charging, off, the whole night). When I booted it, it showed 83%.
3. Different cable might help. Charging from the USB socket of the PC (!) with a very small cable allowed me to breach the 90% charge level.
It is certainly related to the Lollipop update, all chargers/cables were doing just fine before, and now they don't...
I think it's software problem. The phone can't correctly recognize capacity of battery.
I'm sure. i think, If i had root-access i can fix it with deleting "batterystats.bin". But i have not
One more problem, which happened everytime, when charge level gettin low - falling from 14% to 7-8% in couple minutes WITHOUT using phone (screen is off).
It's a common problem on russian forums. Proof:
sense i updated my xperia i have noticed its charging very slowly is that a glitch or something ??
Exactly same problem with magnetic charger !
I think it is software bug. Hopefully, it will be resolved shortly !!!
I have the same problem, Z3 compact won't charge past 82%, charge symbol flasing on and off as if bad conection, only happened since update. Please fix this Sony!!!!
...same with my phone. At the beginning any other charging cable did not work properly. Then thre was one update and I could use almost any charging device. Now, after Lollipop phone shows malfunction as described. I did repair via Companion and reset to default. NO CHANGE!
Phone charges up to a certain point an then switches display on and off, that ledas to a higher consumption than charging!! Only help is to switch off the phone while charging.
Sony (Austria) / Support-Chat is either not aware of this bug or pretends to have no other customer complaints. They recommende to bring the phone to repair service...
I can´t imagine, that this problem has not occured while testing lollipop with the phone before release....OR maybe they did´t test before?
Until now 1. was pretty happy with my z2 and 2. thought about buying a sony tablet. 1.) Not any longer, 2.) Not any longer!
Sony, get moving!
Michael
I'll get my device replaced for this error and my unit will go to development division in Sweden, cause I was first to report and they'll try to get to where the problem takes place. Hope they'll write an update based on my Z2. But it seems much and much more it's lollipops fault not the device itself.
Leaving the Z2's to Xperia Care service is the best You can do right now, or wait for service update.
