Can't activate silent mode

Up until today, I could turn my z5 on and off silent mode by pressing the volume button. Now when I do that, it alters the media volume instead of the phone/call volume. The only way I can turn the phone silent is by going through settings etc which seems ridiculous. Anyone know any other shortcuts?

If you have the phone app open or music or media and you press the volume key the volume will turn up or down. You could press the volume key then press the icon on the top right side a menu will appear.

This is how sound is handled in Lollipop, if you have media running and want to go to silent mode, you'll need to press a volume key once then tap on the bell icon on top right corner to switch to system volume. The bell icon will move to the left corner, if you tap it again it will switch to vibration mode, one more tap will take you to silent mode.
