call voice very low on other side (Z5 Compact MM)

Hello guys,

I have an issue which appeared suddenly and wont go away.

My voice is very low on the other side, people saying its like I am talking from far away from the microphone.

There is no issue with voice recording or when I use headphones. I already restarted the phone but issue keeps beeing there.

It is like the z5 is lowering my voice through the mic during a call, is it the noise cancellation malfunkctioning maybe?

Hi @xperiuz,

I'm sorry to hear that.

If I understood you correctly, your voice sounds fine if you test it using Diagnostics?
- Go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone

You wrote that it appeared suddenly, can you relate it to something specific like for example downloading an app? I suggest that you try having a call while having the device in safe mode to see if a third party app could be the cause.

Hi Emir,

thanks for your reply.

I run diagnose fully so my results:

First of all microphone does work. just like it does when recording sound also. Maybe a little with a little low volume.

But the weirdest results are with earpiece and loudspeaker. Both failed in diagnose but both do work since I can hear the voice through earpiece on microphone test and also can listen to music through loudspeaker.

When started in safe mode results are the same.

Everything else is fine.

If your phone behaves the same way in safe mode then my next suggestion would be that you try a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will erase all locally stored data, so make sure to backup using Xperia Companion prior to performing the software repair.

Let me know if that helps.

I have the same problem, started 4 days ago, I thought that the microphone was faulty but then found that it works in 'speaker' mode, just not if I have it in normal phone mode nad hold it next to my mouth.

Tried Xperia Companion and installed latest updates last night, still same problem.

Suggestions?

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as everyone else with my z5c. Nobody can hear me unless I have my loudspeaker on. I can't believe Sony have not resolved this issue. This thread started in January now it's October.
Like everyone else here I have tried everything.
This the most basic function. microphone ffs!

Made the biggest mistake switching to Sony. Never Again
Very poor from Sony.

I am preparing to make a youtube video where I will air my frustration then smash the phone into bits. Hoping it becomes viral.
