Hi Bro,

Thanks for this advice::))

I tried it and it worked....Thank you so much::)))

The people at Sony are clueless

I've recently received android 6.0.1 marshmallow update for my Z3 compact. Now there's some issue with the proximity sensor. The display is off even after I move the phone away from ear, and will not turn on until the call is disconnected. Once the person at the other end forgot to hang up and I was not able to disconnect the call because of this. I had to switch off the mobile.

This is because your front camera sensor is either covered with a glass protector or is faulty. I removed my glass protector and the black screen issue solved itself. Hope this helps

Unfortunately it seems that it's option 2 (faulty) for most people on this thread. I do not use any glass protector.

This is my second Sony. I used to own a Z3 and it just died on me. I have a Z5 now and the same problem exists. It seems to me that the software is not up to international standards.

My phone screen goes blank during a call and I have also removed the screen protector as well. The customer service at Singapore's Sony Service Centre located at Orchard Road is terrible and of low serviec standards.

I really regret switching to Sony. Previously I was using iPhone 4 and then later on Samsung Galaxy Note II. Although Sony has a good quality camera, it's basic function pales in comparion to those of Apple and Samsung.

I hope Sony works on addressing this software glitch rather than use sales gimmicks to sell their phones.

Terrible.

Unfortunately this is most probably not a software issue but a hardware one.

Just clean with a wet-wipe and a thin piece of plastic carefully the top speaker until it looks like a new, and the problem is over!

There is a light sensor in it somewhere.

This issue is really really annoying. Right when I dial someone, screen goes off and never turn on unless the call is ended. I feel helpless. I was hoping someone could confirm whether this is a hardware issue or a software bug came with the new marshmallow update. If it's a softwares issue, I'm counting on Sony to come up with a fix. My current workaround is enabling " power button to reject calls" from accessibility options. Also using a wired or Bluetooth headset with call button. But both these options not helping me when the call is IVR because I'm not able to use keypad.
I tried many applications in playstore, but none of them worked for me. I sincerely loved this phone until now but now I'm having second thoughts.

Indeed this issue makes the phone very difficult to use. If there is a widespread failure of the sensor perhaps Sony could issue a SW correction that adds something in the settings to disable it. I'd rather be careful with my cheek on the phone than having to deal with a blank screen during calls.

PS: I am fully aware that there is no chance of Sony addressing this problem, I am just daydreaming...

That's not software issue,,,,,, it's the issue of your screen which has come little up,,,, Beside ear speaker there is a sensor from which the calls are seen when you hold in your hand ok,,, now try this
1) Make a call and try pressing the screen on the left corner( means left side to you when you hold the phone face to face) and press little up edge of your earspeaker,,,, (((( Do not place your hand on the sensor which is placed beside earspeaker)))),,, I hope this helps,,

I also updated to 6.0.1 yesterday and have the same problem so I'm sure it's a fault with the update
