Xz3 sim card issues

Hi, last week I started having signal strength issues on both of the inserted dual sims on my XZ3. This week the signal has been disappearing altogether - the sims are from two different service providers.

I've tried different dual and single sims from my older Z2 with no success. I've restarted; refreshed networks; even a factory reset this morning, with no change.

The phone still recognises the sims, but has virtually no connectivity.

Any one with recommendations, please help.

You didn't mention safe mode amongst everything you tried.

You might consider to have another look at the APN settings, go to your providers' website.

Can you find others complaining about the issues you have?

Maybe they offer a solution.

Come back and keep asking.

Hope your problems get resolved.

I started in safe mode yesterday, but noted no difference.

I also spent some time trying to ensure the sim card(s) is/are sitting properly in the sim tray by sliding small strips of paper behind them. This did  not help either.

Please don't fiddle around with paper inside.

When a snip of paper gets stuck inside you'll end up with no contact at all.

The SIM does have contact or does have no contact, that has nothing to do with a week signal.

What you can do is exchange a SIM card with someone else's and/or put your SIM in someone else's device.

Thanks.

I wanted to rule out poor contact with the SIM card, and removed the strips immediately thereafter. It didn't help at all BTW.

On reading up on this issue, I suspect that the issue is with the Antenna Receiver unit. Please advise address and contact details for the Sony service in Dubai, as I'll be there next week.

Thanks

Did you test your SIM card in another phone and another's SIM card in your phone?

Did you test in Safe mode?

For repair goto the support app on your phone.

BTW The support app has loads of interesting information which will help you appreciate your device even more.

Hi and thanks for your assistance,

Before getting the XZ3 I was using a Z2. Both the SIMs are working fine in the Z2. The SIM that was in the Z2 is now in the XZ3 and it still occasionally loses signal as well.

For infrequent use (talk or browsing), the XZ3 works fine for 3-4 days. Then without fail, the network simply drops and cannot receive/make calls or browse. Restarting helps sometimes, but not always.

I've followed several options on the Support App. I've started in Safe mode, restored factory settings, (twice), and presently running the latest software update - Build No. 52.0.A.8.157 Android patch level 1 September 2019.
