Hi,
i have a wiered problem with the touch screen. Quite often the first touch is not recognized and i have to touch the screen a second time to get the touch recognized by the phone.
For example i touch an application on the sony launcher there is no reaction, when i touch it the second time the application gets started.
There is no extra screen protection on the screen and the screen itselfe is clean.
Does this sound like a hardware problem ?
I have the same issue as well. It makes the phone annoying to use as it randomly not register touch input.
Happens across the entire OS including in-apps. But unable to reproduce the issue in diagnostic test app and service test using *#*#service#*#*.
Hope Sony look into this and provide some solution.
Weird... I don't have this issue at all... OS is super fluid.. Maybe you can both list the apps installed and see if there is anything in common.
Yes, OS is super fluid, fast and responsive. But I am only talking about the OS itself. The touchscreen sometimes failed to register input therefore causing missed swipe or touch. I didn't even realised about this touchscreen issue until I saw this thread and then I started noticing it as well. It just happens across the entire system even in the launcher. The occurence is random, you can try scrolling in chrome or anywhere that can scroll by scrolling up and down quickly and stoping the scroll by tapping it. It works fine most of the time, but sometimes it just can't follow.
This issue is not reproduceable in Diagnostic App and Service menu's touchscreen test.
However, I just found a temporary solution which is to enable glove mode. During times where missed touch/swipe would have occured, glove mode seem to be able to kick in to patch it.
My model is XZ Premium Dual G8142
Build 45.0.A.5.1
No screen protector
Uses mostly Sony and Google App.
I had used from Xperia V, Z, Z1, Z2, Z3+, XZ and now XZ Premium...most of the past touchscreen issue are able to be fixed via firmware update. I just hope Sony take notice of this and fix it as well.
Hi, I totally agree with your report. The problem is exactly as you describe. I use mostly Sony and Microsoft apps and the problem can be observed throughout the OS (even in the settings menu and while typing on the keyboard, hence the "annoying" in my post).
I've even noticed that the problem becomes more evident the more "loaded" the device becomes (ram-wise). When you have zero third party apps running in the background the problem almost never happens: on the other hand, when touching the screen under load, it's way more evident. Could you please try to confirm or deny my findings?
Should the problem be related to the amount of apps running / average load of the device I reckon a simple solution could be applied via an OTA.
Yes I can confirm, it has been happening to me too occasionally. It is definetly something software related.
Can confirm that it happens to me too. I thought at first that it was fault of my fingers missing the keys but this happens even when I aim really well.
Since this happens so often I am already used to double tap instead of single tap the send-button in fb messenger and hangouts etc..
Looking forward for fixes&tips about this issue, thank you!
Very frustrating that Sony had yet to comment yet. I see there is a new firmware available as well...hope those lucky region who had received it check and see if it is resolved...or not...
Hello guys, Im joining with you aswell, I had the same touchscreen issues with my phone and got it replaced today,. no luck though, having the same issues again with new phone. I beieve its a software issue, looking forward to get fix from sony.
Totally strange that you guys are experiencing this only when the OS loads not in service diagnostic mode.
This is not a common problem ( at least on other forums such as camera distortion etc.. )
Probably something related to the firmware but since some people are experiencing it, how about you share your firmware version and region ?
Touchscreen issue : Firmware 45.0.A.5.1, I'm using this phone in Canada, imported from UK.
