I've noticed that, after my Nougat update, it takes a lot longer for X-Reality or Super Vivid to "kick in" when viewing images in the Album app. It always had a slight delay but the the delay is now a ridiculous 5 seconds before it locks in when selecting an image to view with either of those two modes turned on.
If you try to zoom in on a photo, you can see that the photo is looking unclear, until the x-reality kicks in...
I saw that this bug it's happen only if you saw the photos horizontally, if you saw them vertically the time loading it's a lot faster...
It seems worse with 20-23 megapixel images.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I've tried downgrading the Album app, clearing app data, etc. No effect. It appears to be a system-level bug.

Same problem with mine..... before Nougat the images loaded fast but with Nougat it takes about 10 seconds to render when you zoom the image. This is no good at all and Nougat is far from an "upgrade" if you happen to use the camera a lot (which I do) so I think Sony needs to fix this FAST because it is clearly a problem that is affecting a lot of people,
I totally agree, Sony needs to fix this FAST
Same issue on X Compact.
2 workarounds which worked for me:
1) Switch off X-Reality mode in Display-Settings. Then it takes only 1 second to display high quality photo.
2) Have X-reality switched on, but using another app - Quickpic in my case, which is much faster (1-2 seconds for full quality). I'm not sure if Quickpic photos are displayed with "X-reality" filter though, can't see a difference.
is still there since last 2 updates,
For me it takes atleast 2 second
Still bad for flagship phone.
Will never ever buy Sony phone.
After Nougat update, battery backup is very bad and phone heats up quickly.

yeah its terrible.
if the file is 5mb or bigger it can take a long time to view the photo correctly.
the smaller the file size the quicker.
i wonder if its anything to do with the so called "disabled" cores 😛
