Constant red light on the front side of the phone

I bought this phone 2 days ago .. I'm noticing there is a constant red light right side of the Sony logo (in the sensor area i suppose). No I'm not talking about the led notification light. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my phone?

Here is one more problem I found causing due to this red light issue. When I plug in my earphones and put my phone into the pocket during a call, it still uses that ambient light sensor and makes the display light go on/off. Due to this, the Mute/Speaker buttons are getting pressed inside my pocket and the other person is not being able to hear me. This is a big issue. The Light sensor should go off after I plug in my earphones. I'm requesting Sony developers to fix this problem asap with a new software update or give us a solution here so we can fix this.

I am very paranoid over this red light beside the sony logo. I read this thread and wanted to switch off the adaptive brightness settings, only to find out that it is already been disabled. And this red light switches on and off at random. This really makes me uncomfortable.

But I decided to keep an eye on it till I have something concrete for you guys to look into this seriously. I found that these red light goes off when I disconnect the phone from ANY network. When I disabled the wiFi and mobile data from my phone at first, it would go off. But after awhile, even turning off my wiFi and mobile data doesn't make it go away. I have to even put it on airplane mode to get rid of it.

The thing is: after disabling all wiFi and mobile data and putting on airplane mode for 5- 10 minutes, I would turn my wiFi and/or mobile data on and switch the airplane mode back to off. And the red thingy wouldn't light up immediately. Maybe later in the day or the next day.

However, recently, the red light lits up immediately after disabling airplane mode and turning back wiFi and/or mobile data on. Even after 30 minutes or so.

I don't know if my phone is adapting to my habits or what, but I hope somebody would give me a proper solution to get rid of it. I don't want this red light. Please look into this matter. I don't want to feel uneasy about using my phone anymore.

I think this problem got fixed after build number 34.3.A.0.217 update.

My adaptive brightness feature is always off and I still see the red light.

Will Sony ever fix this issue? It is very annoying! Red light sensor does indeed turn on by its own for no apparent reason. 

I also don't use the adaptive brightness. 

SONY, WOULD YOU PLEASE FIX THIS!! 😬
