Touch screen problem

Hi

My xz screen does not respond everything else is fine the side hard buttons is working. If it is a software problem can I do a factory reset only using the hard buttons.

You can try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory, so this means you'll lose any data stored on the phone's memory (SD card content will not be affected, apps will have to be re-installed). This procedure requires your phone to be charged and turned off, so no actions through the touchscreen are required.

Follow the steps given in blue links, and keep us updated.

An only restart the xz and not switch it off. The companion send a verification code to the phone that can't be received because of the screen that's not responding to touch.

Press and hold the power and volume up buttons together for 10 seconds to force power off your phone. You don't need a verification code to connect your phone while off.

The power and volume up only restart the phone, any combination of buttons only restart the phone.

Pressing for 7 seconds will restart it, longer pressing to 10 seconds should power off.

Thanks got it of fist the volume up button then power so the screen stays of then it fibres twice.

The companion backup icon is greyed out and I can't choose it all the other icons need the phone connected, what do I do wrong.
