com.android. phone stopped error

After update my phone isn't working. Non stop errors. What does this mean? How do I fix it?

My phone is unusable. I'll use it for a few seconds then that darn error closes everything down.

I am a US user who received the Oreo update a few days ago and since then my system phone app crashes every time I make or receive a phone call. I tried repairing the system with Sony's PC tools and I also reset to factory settings and none of that has worked. I have an unlocked, dual SIM, Sony Xperia XZ Premium (US-version).

It didn't work for me either. Please escalate this, Sony.

I have the international version in the US just to be clear. Both US and international versions are malfunctioning after update.

Also I keep getting non stop voicemail notifications.

So, I just noticed this. com.android.phone only crashes on initial setup when downloading apps. So most likely it is a small bug that can easily be patched and hopefully soon. After your apps finish downloading, all should be fine. Until you update your apps that is. Is annoying, but that's just the instance it occurs.

I noticed that too. Only when downloading apps is when I get the error now. When I get the error the sim card emblem flashes like if there wasn't a sim inserted. I've tried everything. Factory reset, xperia companion etc.

I had the same problem, but I just found out something useful. Let's all try and lmk if that works or not.
Just clear data and cache for phone app, then go to phone app again, go to the visual voicemail tab, and it will ask you to set up just go to the visual voicemail settings, then turn off the visual voicemail. I did that then I didn't get any com.android.phone has stopped error anymore whenever I download/install an app. At least I think that could be a temp. fix for now until they push a new patch for update.

so far so good. I cleared my Voicemail, cleared my cache and data and so far, pretty stable.
