Charging problems

HI,

I'm using the charger that came with the phone into a wall socket(uch20).

If I use a USB-C cable it charges at around 1100ma for 5 minutes and drops to under 600ma and phone then discharges faster than charging. I have left it overnight and woke up to 7% battery this morning.

If I use a Micro USB cable with a USB-C to Micro USB Charger I get a around 1100ma all the time and the phone charges fine.

I'm using the Sony UCB20 Cable and some Aukey USB-C ones I bought on Amazon.
The Micro USB adapter is a Aukey one and the cable is a Sony UCB16 cable.

I'm also using the Ampere app to check the MA.

Anyone know what the problem is.

Thanks

Ive fixed the problem. The charging port had a bit of dirt stuck in it. I stuck a toothpick in to clean it and it seems to have worked. My device now fully charges in under 2 hours no matter which way I stick the usb cable in. (Yesterday it went from 4% to 100% in 1 hour 30 minutes) Wow!!!

It also connects to the computer everytime properly.

Thanks for your help guys.

Ive attached a screenshot from Ampere.

Hi @kamalaggi,

It sounds like the issue is with the USB-C cable. Do you happen to have any other USB-C cables you can test with?

Hi

I have tried 6 different cables. 3 of them genuine Sony UCB20 cables.

I did the software update to 45.0.A.5.1 and now it will connect sometimes say once out of 10 tries. I've tried 4 different pcs and 1 laptop same problem.

When I connect to pc it makes a vibrating noise and says power connected.

I also still have the problem where it sometimes discharges the phone instead or charging.

Any other ideas?

Could the charging port be faulty on my XZ Premium?

I think i've solved the problem but it's strange.

If I put the cable in with the cut side facing up (Sony UCB20 Cable) or aukey logo facing up then it connects and charges fine. Otherwise it won't connect to pc and charge.

Can anyone try theirs and see if they have the same problem?

I thought USB-C cables were reversable.

Thanks for you help and replies guys.

@kamalaggi,

That's very strange, they are indeed reversable.

Hi Guys,

justI found a way to charge my Xperia XZ expiriencing loopcharging issue:
try to push upper volume pad together with power button and plug in the charging cable.
Hold the buttons for 3-5 minutes - you will feel vibrating signals like 3 short and 1 long.
so hold it and then simply leave it for a several minutes and it should start to accept the charge.

Cheers

this worked for me perfectly. Although worried there will be ongoing problems. Has yours experinced anymore problems? Do you think it's worth sending to get fixed?
