I found out that I just can't get the Smart Text Selection of Android Oreo to work, I have selected all kind of texts (phone numbers, names, adresses, web sites, emails) but I am never given the option of a shortcut to a relevant app.
Can this be because my system language is Portuguese, or is this another bug of the Oreo update?
Anyone facing the same issue?
Another thing that I found out is that the magnifying glass that apeared when long pressing the cursor on a text is gone, did we loose it with the Oreo update?

Update;
I can confirm that after the today update (47.1.A.12.34) the Smart Text Selection function of Oreo is now working.
You might want to clear the app data
you can test this > open chrome > open a website > select part of a text > you will get a Google bar at the bottom > you have to allow it
Touch to search sends the selected word and the current page as a context to Google Search. You can turn it off in Settings.
NO THANKS ALLOW
@uliwooly;
What app shall I clear the data from? I think The Smart Text Selection is a function of the Android system.
Also the thing you told me to test works ok, but that is not the Smart Text Selection.
You are right, that was just Google Search not Smart Text Selection, I'll look into it .
