This is just a documentation of my 29 day old z3v cracking while sitting on a sony wireless charger overnight. I'll be posting pictures before i wrap it up and send it to sony of each corner of the phone (like brand new) and the front (like brand new) and the back with one random crack on it. Verizon refuses to man up and replace it and Sony wants to inspect before fixing under warranty. I guess we'll see.
It would seem to be a ton of people have this problem the sony Z line of products, so why can't Sony recognize it?? I bought a waterproof phone for a reason and if it cracks randomly how can i trust it under water?
The other kicker is i have to live without my phone, that i use for work, for 3 + weeks? Really Sony? I want you to do that to your executives and see if it flys. Props to Verizon for providing a replacement phone but if i dont get this one back within 90 days i eat the cost of a brand new phone. Its no wonder you haven't entered this market until recently, you have NO IDEA WHAT PEOPLE WANT OR NEED from a customer service standpoint when it comes to mobile devices.
Great phone, poor glass choice and poor support, at least so far.
I guess you're a lucky one then huh, because a quick google search and looking at comments section of any Z related article or forum reveals a multitude of problems and people familiar with the issue just from researching the phone prior to purchase. I'm not bashing the Xperia here, I'm not even bashing Sony at this point. I'm simply documenting my return process and my single crack that sporadically appeared during charging.
Here is T-Mobile FULLY ADMITTING the Z has issues and describing what should and shouldnt be covered by Sony. I wish mine didnt have issues, I love it. My wifes hasn't had any problems (she has the white one) but thats not to say she won't at some point.
There's no such thing as luck, the topic is the Xperia Z3V not the Z, Z1 Compact, Z2, Z2s, Z3, Z3 Compact nor the Z series tablets.
Second, I had put my Xperias through a lot w/o a protective case, just a protective film, through water, heat, cold, sand/dust, falls, etc they haven't cracked, with that said, it doesn't mean that my devices are indestructible, of course you will find few scratches here and there, and if someone drop their device there are myriad factors that could crack or not the screen, of course you will see people complaining about their cracked screens, who will go to a support forum to say, hey so I dropped my phone and it didn't cracked; it just doesn't happen.
As for screen cracking out of nowhere, it just impossible, some external force has to be applied to crack the screen, the other option is if the phone was already dropped multiple times or just one time on just the right angle and surface, or sitting repeatedly on the phone, could create micro cracks and exposing the phone to drastic changes of temperature could crack it just like any other glass.
Also keep in mind the size of the screen, check other brands that have smartphones with a screen with a similar size and check their support forum, you will find something similar. you can also check old forum posts on the iphone 4 and 4s
Not necessarily, it could be a lot of pressure on your pockets and that cracked the screen; another possibility is that perhaps you had it on your pocket and you bumped into something hitting the screen.
If you keep in your pocket and something hit your pocket, you might not be aware of it but that could cause the crack, perhaps the edge of a table, a door, etc. post a picture of your phone, I'm certain we can pinpoint the area of impact that cause the crack, all in all, contact your local Xperia Care, regarding the cracked screen and/or your thoughts on the design and if you get some extra time, check the other forums (other brands).
I had my works Blackberry get its screen smashed, only noticed after i came out of the supermarket & took it out of my front pocket, it was perfect before i went in. Racked my brain on how it could have happened then i remembered a woman bumped into me with her trolley, not hard but enough for me to notice.......so it goes to show that things can happen & you dont realise or register it at the time.......suffice to say i wasn't happy
I want to amend what I said earlier, I had only one Xperia that I did cracked the screen, it was my Xperia X10, I had my keys and my phone in the same pocket, I put a pressure on my leg, it cracked the screen as the keychain was directly on the screen.
