WiFi Disconnect/Reconnect Issue

WiFi Disconnect/Reconnect Issue

I recently posted another topic about my Sony Xperia Z3v having multiple issues. I have since received a replacement phone because Verizon was unable to help me solve the issues and I am unable to hook my model up to PC Companion. The replacement has done much better than the original phone, but it is still having a WiFi connection issue. The WiFi will disconnect and then reconnect quite frequently. I will be surfing the web, on Facebook, or even just texting and the WiFi will disconnect. A notification will show up at the top saying "WiFi Networks Available" and then a few seconds to a minute later, the WiFi will reconnect and a notification will show up claiming it has been reconnected. I have checked my router and WiFi signal to make sure it isn't an issue on that part. There isn't anything wrong. Nothing else in the house has problems connecting and staying connected unless it is the rare occasion when our WiFi completely goes out. I have already done a factory reset on the device. I also did the hard reset by holding the phone's power and volume buttons until it shut off and came back on. I would try to see if PC Companion could do a repair, but as I mentioned, Verizon's model is unable to sync with the program. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue? I have only had the device since Tuesday and this is the second device I have had within the last two months. I would really like to solve the issue if possible because otherwise my only other options are to get yet another replacement or completely turn the phone in for trade in value and pick a different device.

Glad to hear that you got a new device, do you experience the same issue with other routers?

I haven't had the chance to test this phone with other routers. I know that the other Sony had this same WiFi issue and it did happen with other routers. I don't know with this one. Someone at Verizon was telling me that they have noticed with the Sony Xperia Z3v, it's finicky with SIM cards so they have to issue a brand new one whenever they sell the phone. I asked her if the SIM card could be affecting the WiFi and she said she didn't think so. I'm going to go to Verizon and get a brand new one placed in that phone anyway. I will also be visiting family afterwards so I will see if the phone does the disconnect/reconnect issue with their WiFi.

Should I test it here in Safe Mode? The one Verizon rep was going to have me do that, but she changed her mind. Instead, she had me factory reset the phone and then go through the setup without signing into absolutely anything, not even my Google account. She did that for thirty minutes before she decided that she was just going to do the paperwork for trade in value.

You could boot on safe mode and see if wifi works

I was having the same issue with mine. I called my cable/ Internet provider which completed a reset of our modem and router. This still did not fix the problem. I called Verizon about their router, they said since I purchased it instead of leasing, they couldn't help, so finally I contacted Sony customer support by phone. They suggested I needed to upgrade my router to be compatible with today's innovative capabilities such as high speed Internet and 4 G band width. So I did & haven't had that error message again. My phone on the other hand, still not working right only 14 months old. So disappointing.
