Z3 Not Waterproof - false claims by Sony

Hello, as I see many others are having issues with their Sony phones not being water proof as claimed by Sony.  My Z3 compact died after being in 6 inches of water for less than 20 seconds.  I emailed Sony 2 days ago but have not had a reply.  I will be taking action agaist O2 and Sony as this is clearly a false claim by Sony.  Have any one else had any luck delaing with Sony on this issue?

I'm sorry to hear that, the phone it is indeed waterproof, as long as the covers/flaps are firmly closed and there aren't any cracks or damage to the phone. Contact your local Xperia care and request a vacuum test.

Hello Uliwooly, you're funny..I never thought to check the covers were closed...

 My Z3 isn't waterproof...or should I say wasn't.

How is my reply funny? there's a difference between closing the flaps and firmly closing the flaps, this is a user based forum, and I'm just trying to help you out.

You need to send it to sony and ask for a vacuum test. If it fails you should get your phone exchanged/replaced. As far as i know sony doesn't fix water damaged phones and if it was manufacturing fault they should exchange it for you.

My Z3 withstand water very well and I've taken a lot of pictures in pools. You may have a defect in your unit if your are pretty sure you had all the flaps firmly closed as @uliwooly mentioned. The only way to know is to visit your nearest Sony local support and ask for a vacuum test:
