Z2 not working with earphones

Hello, I recently got the xperia z2 about two weeks ago and it wasn't until recently that I tried using it for music that I discovered that the phone doesn't seem to play the audio into my headphones, it doesn't seem to recognise it at all when I plug it into the 3.5mm jack.

It did at first work the first few days, although glitchy but now it doesn't seem to respond to being plugged in at all.

Could this be a software issue? Between the times that I've used the jack for feeding audio my phone was still on an earlier version of android OS when it worked.

test your headphones with a computer and/or with other phones

repair your phone with SUS or PCC, just to narrow down the problem

Update Service (SUS)

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

Have you altered the Audio Accessories in Settings...Sounds....the menu toggles between 3 options......also check to make sure there is nothing inside the actual headphone jack port......

So what setting are you sitting at for Headphones out of the 3 choices.....i dont use the Sony noise cancelling supplied ones as i have Marleys so have set it at OTHER.....

Not really sure what sort of difference if any it would cause if i had the Noise Cancelling box ticked.......will try later

Hello again, I've now used PC companion to repair the phone, the problem remains the same, it still wont play into any of my headphones. I'm thinking I should turn it back in using the warranty if it can't be solved anytime soon.
