Request - Kitkat & 2011 Xperia devices - Xperia PLAY - Voice your Request for Support

I have been a user of the SE Xperia PLAY for well over two years. I have had the chance to use a GS4 and an HTC One as possible upgrades for my PLAY. And to be honest I ended up getting another Xperia PLAY and have been very happy, and have absolutely ZERO regrets. Yes its very old hardware but I love the game controls.

I would like Sony to conisder either supporting 2011 devices like the Xperia PLAY or at least releasing sources for the PLAY and other 2011 devices and let the XDA and other dev communities do the work of updating our beloved Xperia PLAY and other Xperia 2011 devices to KitKat as Google has made it quite clear that all phones with 512mb of ram and up will run KitKat smoothly.

Please Sony at least release the sources for our devices. You support the Dev community like no other manufacturer and this would just go one big step further in cementing users to your products if they know that you support your devices either officially or unofficially through the dev/modding community.

I have posted a thread over at XDA Xperia PLAY requesting all users to come to this post and voice their desire to see continued support  either through official update or source releases.

Thank you Sony for making the Xperia PLAY, the best phone I have ever had, even with its age. I have no plans of letting it go... seriously.

Good cause but we all know this is not going to happen.

C'mon Sony, hear your customers! This would be a great closure for the greatest phone you've ever realeased!

I know it will probably not even be noticed by Sony, but if you never try then you know it will never happen.  At least I can say that I am trying to get Sony to at least consider it.

I don't know if you recall the reason why the Xperia Play wasn't updated to 4.0. Believe me, it will be great to have the option to update to KitKat but if Jelly Bean didn't happen, KitKat its not going to happen.

I remember fully well the reasons why the Xperia PLAY did not get official ICS, let alone anything since.  I have been an avid and consistent member of XDA in the Xperia PLAY forum for over 2 years.

I would like this thread to stay on topic, this is a thread for people to voice whether they would like to see KitKat 4.4 support via either official support or through the release of official sources for this device and all 2011 Xperia devices. I am not here to discuss how if we should get support, that is for Sony to decide. But they wont if no one shows an interest in this topic.

Xperia Play is the best awesome android device in the Sony Company ....Even Xperia Z1 is nothing as compared to Play...only our device lack is ram, processor, storage and some hardwares...So we need KitKat 4.4 for our devices...we just need this last official update.....Sony satisfy your costumers! Alert

Sony if you cannot support the 2011 devices, then  please release the source files for the 2011 devices so that the developer community can support it our selves.

This would be a good PR move for Sony. It would earn you lots of good will and would cost you nothing.

It would also be a good way to do research and development for free, as the developer community can test and try out new ideas and work out the problems in these ideas, which you can then adapt into your products.
