Z Ultra Screen so fragile

Why my Xperia Z Ultra glass is not as tough as said? It didn't have to get fall or hit it with hammer to make it crack.
This is happened just 2 weeks after I bought my Z Ultra.

When I come home, I put my ultra in my pocket, then I sit in motorcycle. When I arrived at home, I check my Ultra and then suddenly I found it get cracked in screen. I found not even single scratch in casing, but the screen got crack. The crack is so thin that I couldn't feel the crack with my hand. And the worst is, the touchscreen suddenly not working!

So, my warning to all Z Ultra owner, do not ever put your ultra in your pants pocket.

Ask Xperia Care: Can I claim my warranty?

Really dissapointed with SONY, the experia Z ultra is not strong enough to support itself. It can very easily twist out of shape and the screen will split. This is clearly a design fault and not the fault of the customer. If I am quoted a service fee or charge of any kind, I will take my business elsewhere. Waranty means nothing any more. I have always been extra careful with this device, and to be charged to repair a device that breaks with normal use is nothing short of wrong. Have loved the device but I am not prepared to pay for a repair that is not due to any fault of my own.

I wish I saw this before I made the purchase. After a month and half normal use (I put the phone in my pocket), the screen is cracked. After get redirected 3 times, the guy told me that any screen damage is considered as out of warranty. This is my first time with Sony phone and it's probably my last time considering both the product and the service I had with Sony

I had mine in the car door and when I got home the screen was cracked. Sent it off to Sony and no surprise they are saying it's my fault and not with the phone. I've had Sony phones for almost ten years and the last 3 phones have all been smart phones and never had a problem. I am going to contact watch dog as there have been problems with the experia z and it took getting it on tv for Sony to take proper action

I bought the experia ultra last year when it first band out. The screen cracked through no fault of my own. It was in its protective case and it was in the car door pocket and when I got home the screen was shattered. Sent phone to Sony only to be told that the screen was cracked and I would have to pay as it was an out of warranty repair. From what I have read on other forums and this one Sony like to use that line a lot. You can't call the call centres and speak to someone. I have tried for up to 40 minutes at a time and its 0870 numbers so goodness knows how much my land line bill is. Not one person has explained exactly what's gone on with my phone and the online chat is just as bad with long wait times. When I did finally get to chat to someone I said the phone is meant to be shock proof. Their answer? Please define shock proof. Kept the screen shots for proof. I have the experie neo the arc the z and never had a problem until I got the ultra. I swear I will never buy a Sony anything again and I plan on telling anyone that will listen. I have also been in touch with BBC watchdog as I am made to feel like a liar.

Same thing here!! Hairline crack across the top third of the phone after being in my pocket. If a mobile phone isn't strong enough to withstand being in your pocket, then it's not fit for purpose. I'm going to send mine off to be looked at but I'm not confident in Sony's customer care at all frankly. Sounds like they'll do anything to avoid paying out.

Hi,

I have recently had a issue where the screen on my phone cracked in my pocket (nothing else was in said pocket), it got extreamly hot i took out my phone to find the screen had cracked and was completely unresponsive.

Anyone else had the same??

I had the same problem with my xperia z, the screen cracked on its own, i was in my car and the phone was operating normally, placed it down, remembered another phone call i should make, tried to call, never made it. The whole screen became unresponsive. The phone screen wasn't hit by anything and i wasn't driving at the time i made the calls. I was surprised to find out about self cracking screens on the z and z1. Too bad, i got the z2 before discovering its a hardware bug. I made a usb on the go cable to restore my files and settings.
