Xperia z3 screen replacement

Hi everyone,

I'm wandering about a z3 as I'm not sure what's going on. My digitizer cracked and o2 quoted something like 190 to fix for me although it's under warranty as it's also line rental so I decided to replace the screen myself and it worked great until that one also broke so again I bought another however now I can't get it working. Puzzled I took the phone to a shop to diagnose if it's a phone fault or screen. The shop told me they tried a new screen and it worked fine so I sent the screen back and ordered another but again it does not work. So what's going on iv tried using the off button and turning it back on but the screen does not come on. As far as I'm aware the phone is on as I feel it vibrate and the circuit board is warm and every time I press the power button it vibrates like my m4 does wen you hold it to power it off. So am I just having bad luck with finding a working screen? I want to get this fixed so I can send it off for them to repair the camera issue which seems very common where it shuts down because it gets to hot 😞

There's nothing wrong with the camera, if you use it it will warm up the phone, more so if you record on 4K as for the screen, you might want to try a new screen

Hi @Crazy_nutter,

Welcome to the community.

If you repair the screen yourself, your warranty will be void. So even if you do manage to get a working official Sony Xperia screen, when you send it to your local repair team for assessment, you will be charged for the repair on your camera anyway. As uliwooly said, it does not sound like there is actually an issue with your camera.

I recommend you contact your local support team and have them repair your device, as you will likely end up paying more in the long run doing self repairs, re-repairs etc than you would if you just got it repaired officially.

The camera on the phone isn't usable, usually within a minute of turning it on it says device temperature rising if it gets any hotter the camera will shut down and then it does go off therefor making it impossible to take pictures it's very common if you Google it but majority are saying it's the snapdragon processor that's causing it. I have confirmed the phone is definitely powered on as I'm seeing a flashing blue led which would b because of a notification. Anyway no point paying it to be done official now since iv already replaced screen once so warranty would already be void.

@Crazy_nutter,

I still think you should have your local support look at it, they can do the whole thing at once, screen, heating etc.
