Hi,
I recently received my sony xperia z3 compact and have noticed that after it has been connected to wifi for a long time and then goes out of wifi range it doesnt seem to automatically revert to mobile data and the only wat to get it back seem to be to restart my phone? Im on the 3 network, does anyone else have this issue or know if its related to phone or network or have a fix?
thanks
Working in Sheffield again today and same problem - Mobile Data just stops working - still switched on according to the Quick Settings but nothing but the basic 4 bars showing on the notifications (no H, H+, 3G or 4G symbols)
Tried switching 4G off, nothing.
Tried switching on Airplane mode and back, nothing.
Once again had to reboot and then it worked fine.
Just frustrating that it's still a problem and no-one from the Xperia Care Team can be bothered to respond to this topic.
I'm currently experiencing the same issue on my Z1 compact.
Started off as an intermittent problem and I could reestablish connection by switching to a 2g signal, then back to 3g. Now it's gone completely through, nothing I try gets data back.
Thank god it's not only me , are we still in 2001 ? Still no fix ? pull your finger out sony!
I'm another with the same problem:
1. Do you still see the icon for mobile data (H, H+, LTE)? If so, which one? No mobile data icon
2. Does the phone still show that it has network reception (do you see reception bars or a red cross next to the battery icon)? Yes
3. If you go to Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names, do you still see your APN there? Yes
4. Which operator are you using? Three
5. Does your SIM/subscription support LTE? Yes
6. Which preferred network mode have you set (Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Network mode)? LTE/WCDMA/GSM
7. If you tap your APN under Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names, what's the APN, APN-type (e.g. default,supl,a-gps) and APN protocol (e.g.IPv4/IPv6) set to? default,supl,mms,a-gps
8. Would you usually be connected to LTE in the area where the issue happens, or WCDMA/HSDPA (shown as H in UI)? LTE, but happens on H+, H, 3G and G too
Any help that Sony can offer (as well as more news about Lollipop upgrade and whether this might stand a chance of fixing) would be much appreciated. I generally like the phone but it's going back if this isn't resolved soon, I use my phone for work and it's losing me time/money.
Any update yet?!
I don't think they know (or care about it) as it seems to be a fairly small minority that it's affecting.
Very annoying - both in terms that there's no response from the Xperia Team and that EVERY time I go to Sheffield I have to restart my phone to restore my Data Connection.
I had similar problem had to keep restarting but I turned off the stamina modes and that seems to have resolved it.
I saw this cure on the net and so am sharing it, I haven't tried it yet only because I can't figure out how to do the text bit. I thought I’d share a quick tweak that applies to most of Sony’s Xperia Android phones. If you’re on the Three network and travel around a fair bit you’ll notice that occasionally you’ll lose the data connection and it won’t always come back until you reboot the phone. Very annoying. This happens because Three still have some 2G roaming agreements in place for areas they don’t have coverage. That doesn’t include data roaming however and a lot of devices (including the iPhone still) have trouble with this. The way to fix this is to set the ‘Network Mode’ to ‘4G/WCMA’. Annoyingly you can’t set this in the ‘Mobile Network Settings’ section, you’ll need to go into hidden service menu to get to the setting. From the dialler, type this: *#*#SERVICE#*#* 'Service' is typed as you would on a T9 predictive text keyboard, so thats one key press per letter. Once your into the service menu, choose ‘Network Mode’ and then within this menu choose ‘LTE_WCDMA’. You’ll see the radio stack reboot (so you’ll lose your connection while it does this). No longer shall you experience the annoying ‘data never comes back’ issue.
So tried Robin's suggestion and visited Sheffield yesterday - and no data drop out. Hopefully that's fixed it.
Cheers Robin.
Pleased it worked for you. I'm still not able to get Service be grateful if you could explain how, bearing in mind I am not that bright.
All the best
