Xperia Z1 screen protector catches scratches

I write to you seeking an enquiry about the new Xperia Z1. First I wish to express that this is the most gorgeous and premium looking phone I've come across ever. However since it is on the expensive side, I've done some research and have come up with one question.

The plastic screen protector on the Z1 tends to catch scratches and upon removal of it, the front Sony logo comes off as well. As a consumer dishing out substantial amount I wouldn't wish to lose Sony branding on my phone. I do not intend to use any phone covers since hiding the beautiful Z1 inside a cover is not my agenda as this is my answer to premium looking iPhones.

Please share how to get a replacement front and back plaster protectors with Sony branding or a solution when you have scratches on Z1 front/back side as they tend to catch scratches very easily and there are multiple videos on youtube highlighting the same.

Your response will be eagerly anticipated.... Yours Syed...

i am s=also looking for the perfect protector for my z1: one that is thin enough to not affect touch sensitivity, HD crisp and yet tough enough to fight against scratches. Slightly_smiling_Face

I have many scratches line on my new Z1 . The quality of the ASF is poorer compare to my one year old note 2 without the screen protector . is it possible to replace the ASF? Seem many Z1 user facing same issue . Buy a high end phone with poor screen protection. Remove the ASF will void the warranty ? What policy is this ?

After 2 weeks I got the following stock standard response from Sony:

Based on the information provided we can confrim that this handset does have a durable tempered glass display which is indeed "scratch resistant".

Sony Xperia handsets also do come with a plastic "shatter proof" sheet which applied over top of this display.

This is applied for the reason being that if the display is damaged in anyway it will keep any broken glass securely in place.

This plastic sheet can be removed however we do strongly recommend if you are wanting to do this that you have it sent through to an authorized repair location to be done by a service agent.

As it does require quite some force it may damage the water resistant seals therefore this would void the 12 month manufacturing warranty.

So essentially if you have scratches on the ASF then you are Stuffed! take it off and your waterproof warrenty is VOID (interestingly they say 'water resistant' when the phone is marketed as 'waterproof')

As so many people have said, what is the point of having scratch proof glass when you put a film on it that is not scratch proof!!! Mine looks like a 12 month old poor quality phone after 4 weeks!  Great way to promote your brand and your phone, most people who look at mine now are going straight for a samsung active!

I was interested about the Tablet Z ..... i will buy the new iPad Air ! ... and iPhone 5s.

Selling my Z1 for 450 € (payd 689 €)

I DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT SCRATCHED DISPLAY ANYMORE !

WHY .... all the vendors/carriers DON'T KNOW THAT ?????

WHY Sony NOT inform that People !?!?!?

WHY Sony don't TELL You about that CRAPPY plastic fabbric protection ?

WHY don't they tell you that YOU have to BUY an extra protection for a useless cheap plastic cover of the front glass, in a 700 € smartphone !!!!

( and ... if You remove it ... SONY will drop the 12 month warranty )

AND ... IF YOU SCRATCH THE FRONT "PROTECTION SHIELD" ... SONY HAVE NO "REPAIR - REPLACE OPTION" FOR THE F.U.C.K.I.N.G. DEVICE    !!!!!!! EVEN IF YOU PAY ... LOT OF MONEY !

SONY ...  with Swedish phone "experts" (Sony Mobile) .... DANGEROUS MIX !

Tänk tre gånger innan Ni  gör saker och ting ! DJÄVLA DUMMSKALLAR !!!

It's like to have a Mercedes-Benz AMG Power Machine (not Volvo ... because it's now Chinese...) .... with the Italian FIAT engine ......

FORGIVE ME APPLE !!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to wade into, what looks like an old-ish conversation, but has anyone bothered to read their warranty regarding damage to the screen. Apparently, if there is any physical damage to your phone, this could void the warranty. Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole point of warranty in case we accidentally damage the phone?

Like one of the previous users said, this is a $1000 (approx £600 in the UK) Handset, I'd expect better service than this. And on top of that, I'm expected to pay Sony £15GBP just to look at it (I have to pay them £14.40 so they return my phone to me after inspection)...

Ridiculous 😕

Yes, my last sony product too. I was going to buy Smartwatch and some other items. I cancelled my Music unlimited subscription; and also going to refrain from purchasing any other Sony product. I switched over from iPhone, I should have gone with Samsung (atleast they do have some way of fixing the issues)

I really had high hope; I guess that's why I am disappointed a lot, I had higher expectations from Sony.

Here is my list of items I would be purchasing:

E-Reader: Kindle

Watch : Cookoo or pebble

Gaming System: PC or Xbox (not sure on this one yet)

Tablet: iPad Air

Laptop/Computer: Apple MacBook

The list is never ending Sony; multiply by tons of people who are going to get disappointed like I am.

Hi all!!

As well as everybody here, I am very disappointed with the ASF on the Z1 screen. After some research, I found a webpage where these films are sold with the Sony logo.

I don’t plan to buy one right away as my screen does not look that bad, yet, and I am still covered by the warranty, but if anybody is in a hurry, here you have the link:

If someone buys the ASF, please let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Luis M.

very dissapointed with this phone.  Made the switch from Saumsung and starting to regret it..  don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeousphone, but this is a fault in design rather than a quick fix.  I spoke to Sony who will charge me for repair, despite the problem not being how I've managed it.  Tried the shop i purchased it from and EE/orange, they said it's sony's issue.  The shop asked if I took their insurance out, I replied that it would be a warranty issue, not insurance.  I just want a different phone.  Not buying the ps4 either. unlucky sony
