Hi,
I've just bought an xperia tablet Z Wifi. I have noticed that the wifi connexion @5Ghz is really weak and unsteady. Even when I'm just 2 feets from my router (Netgear WNDR4000) the signal is weak (1 bar, sometimes 2 or 0, unsteady).
I have several other devices able to use the 5Ghz connexion and everything works fine with them (the signal is better than the tablet even if I'm one floor below the router).
I've already try to connect my tablet without any other wifi connection, so it's not some kind of conflict or whatever. Router of tablet reboot do not improve anything.
Has anybody experienced the same issue ?
Which router model is it? Have you checked for any firmware update for the router?
v1.0.0.90, up to date.
Same problem here.
Poor WLAN performance and wifi drops in front of router when using 5Ghz. 5Ghz is a must for me. Any solutions for this?
Router is an AVM Fritz Box, which works perfectly with a Samsung Laptop, a Nexus 4 and some other devices.
You can try to explicitly set a 5 GHZ band to use in the router settings. Someone on XDA reported that this may work better than "Automatic".
I tried that already. But it didn't have any effect. I contacted Sony support. Maybe they have a solution.
Thanks
Tim
I have a similar situation, I put my xperia z and the z tablet together and using the same apps testing the 5GHz signal, xperia z phone showing -45dbm but the tablet showing -60dbm. is it a hardware issue or firmware/software issue. I got latest firmware for my tablet already also i did try to re-install the latest firmware by using update services, USB cable connect to my desktop computer, but not only PC Companion.
Same issues here. First my Xperia Z Tablet is unable to see hidden 5GHz networks, second the signal reception is lousy when compared to my HTC One, Samsung Ativ S, Samsung T700 or iPad2. We need a network WLAN driver Update URGENTLY! It kind of kills the whole device!
Hello, Sony Support, is anyone there ?
Or should I say "does anyone care" ?
You know we've bought this device, you got our money that's for sure.
But maybe we'll don't make the same mistake next time if you don't try to fix your product's issues...
I calle the support maybe two week ago. After 10 days they contacted me, telling me I called the wrong support hotline.
