I am sharing a folder in my Win8 Desktop, and when I access this folder from my Xperia Z tablet (LAN) using ES FileExplorer or X-plore File Manager the download speed is of only 500 KB/s which is very slow for a local network. I did the same test but from a Win7 laptop, and I got a download speed of 3-4 MB/s which is much better.
I have also noticed that going to a next room from where the router is, the WIFi signal strenght in the Xperia Z Tablet drops by half.
Is there a way to improve the LAN and WiFi performance? or is Sony looking into this?
Thanks,
There's no setting in the tablet that can improve WiFi performance but there may be settings in your router that you can change.
Use an app like WiFi analyzer to see what channel works best at your location and set your router to that channel.
If your router has a setting for channel width you could try setting it to 40MHz. If there are several networks in range this might however cause problems.
I can forward your feedback to see if any improvements can be made in upcoming updates.
Check if your bluetooth is on or not and maybe connected to a device. Try without it being on.
It's a known issue that wifi and bluetooth don't work togheter on this tablet
Hi.
I have the same problem. The Wifi and the 3G/4G is very, but really very poor. I have try it everything but nothing works. Comparing with Note 10.1, Nexus and Ipad is a deception...
Bad work Sony!!!
