Xperia T Wont Charge/Turn On

Had the T for around 4 days on contract with T Mobile.

The phone was working fine, until today when i finished work, found out the phone was dead.

Having had a blackberry before this and i was able charge the phone from my cd player in the car, i did the same with this.

Phone charged, but then suddenly it was on 0% charge, phone died.

Tried powering it back on and all i got was flashing red lights.

I dont know how to reset the phone etc.

Managed on the off chance to get the phone past the start screen, but whenever i swipe the screen, all it says is "Android System".

Help Anyone?

Success story. Disclaimer I haven’t notice any damage or loss of data, However I take no responsibility for any damage or loss of data that may occur.

My girlfriend has a xperia T and did let it go flat, since then it didn’t appear to charge or switched on.

I had tried allsorts suggested on various websites such as plugging charger in and out a few times, leaving in charger for 24 hr, plugging into laptop, and trying to power up with power button and volume up. Red light sometimes lighting up or flashing but not staying lit.

After playing around with all of the above methods, I noticed if I kept my finger on power while plugging into the charger or laptop the red led stayed on until I let go. So I tied an elastic band around the phone on the power button, then I plugged in the charger, unplugging it, plugging in again with volume up pressed until I had the red led lit. Not sure of which combination I did but just when the led was lit (not flashing). I left it for a few hours while it was plugged in with the elastic band keeping pressure on the power button. Came back to it and found the phone on and battery at 100%.

Hope this helps some of you

I can't believe that so many of us can report such a common fault on a Sony forum and no one from Sony is able to reply to us with an explanation on what causes this fault.  Surely they must be aware that this is now a common fault with one of their devices and by now should have produced a fix, or a recall even.  After all, most of us have to register our product online using an e-mail address that could be used to let us all know that there may be a problem with our phone and we should follow their advice on how to fix it, or avoid it happening in the first place.  I for one am not impressed.  I demand that someone from Sony comments on this common fault with the Sony Xperia T.  My phone is at the Post Office waiting for me to pick it up, after being returned from the repair shop.  After reading the posts on this forum and the silence from Sony, I don't have much faith that the fault has been fixed permanently?

If your phone is doing this either call Sony  +1-877-7XPERIA (1-877-797-3742) and explain what is going on. You're going to need the info from the pull-out tab found in the SIM/SD bay. It will take a few weeks and some Shipping money. OR your provider will probably replace it for free if you can get it to fail infront of them. (PROTIP: Let it die while using it and do not plug it in for a while)

Your phone will very likely get worse until it fails completely. My experiance is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43383759#post43383759

Your phone SHOULD charge like everyother phone. If it is acting funny get it replaced ASAP

Thank you so much madmick....  I was about to call rogers and start the whole repair process, but I tried your fix and it worked! Here are my details for the record...

Phone went dead over the long weekend - tried to plug it in last night, no red light, nothing

Only got the red light when I pressed the pwr button, then it would go out

Tried reset method of up vol and pwr - no avail

Left it plugged in all night, nothing

-------------------------------------------

This morning, read your post - plugged it in with elastic band around pwr button

Powered up without resetting after about 5 mins - icon showed 1% batt

So far so good - I will try to keep it from complete discharge from now on

Thank you again!  Saved me a lot of trouble!

(I have also been through 3 of these XperiaT's....not a happy customer either)

At this moment in time, it's difficult to say what is causing this. This has been fed back to be investigated further.
