Xperia T - Phone crashes when screen locks

Hello I am having problems with my phone and I would appreciate any help provided.

The issues with my phone consist of two major things; firstly when I press the On/Off button to lock the screen does as expected and the screen turns off but when I go to unlock it (5 or more seconds later) it will not respond to the On/Off button at all so it will not unlock or turn on, the only way around this is to hold the volume up and the on/off button to reset the phone as the battery is not easily removed. This obviously causes problems as I must turn my phone on every time I need it and I can't receive messages when my phone is locked.

Another issue that occurs at the same time as this is that when sound or video is played I get the error that 'Cannot play track' or some variation. My phone keeps telling me that sound enhancements have stopped responding.

My phone is still under manufacturer's warranty so I took it to carephone warehouse (where I purchased my contract from 3) after two weeks they sent it to their main repair centre, fixed it and sent it back. It was completely wiped so I put a few apps and songs back on but it it unfortunately broken again with the exact same issues as before within a week.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have had with the device so far, can you advise if you have tried removing the applications you have installed? As this issue may be related to an application you have downloaded.

Hi Josh_Cowley,

Boot your phone into Safe Mode and check if that problem still persists. 

If not(I expect such a scenario), You need to uninstall apps one by one until you find the culprit for that issue exactly as has been recommended by Jake.

NOTE: Task killers, anti-virus, battery booster and similar apps permanently remove from your phone, because you do not need.

I have tried booting in safe mode but the same two problems persist, I took your advice and removed some apps such as Avast (Anti-virus), Dropbox, Facebook messenger and some others. I'm down to seven apps which didn't come with the phone.

Two error messages that persist to show up on random occasions are "Process system is not responding, Would you like to close it?" <Wait> / <Ok> and "Sound enhancements has stopped responding" <Wait> / <Close>. Another problem I have noticed in the last 24 hours is that the application responsible for handling calls  will not function, answering calls causes a full system crash and when I attempt to call someone else they will receive an incoming call from me but the application will close and send me to the home screen while my contact's phone is still ringing.

I have now factory reset my phone to the default settings and after going through the initial setup, the problem is still the same.

Have you tried to repair your software?

Try to re-install your current software with Sony Update Service or PC Companion, just to be sure whether it is a software or hardware problem.

Unfortunately maybe you should to take it back in the service or Carphone Warehouse.
