xperia p notification problem

day b4 yesterday i updated my xperia p to ICS. till now all went good but just 10 min b4 notification ringtone doesn't seem to work, the phone only vibrates while notifying something(new message, or any popup....etc ). please help me out in this. tried changing my notification tone, set the volume to max but nthng worked for me.

1-Use Sony Update service and download the latest software for your phone.(367MB)

2-Download and install "Illumination bar" from google play. configure illumination bar so that it lights up for a missed call or sms.

Then "Yureka" your default blue colour notification starts working again.

* If you want to change the colours and customize it Download and install "Light flow light" from Google play

P.S. -  This led notification only works when Illumination bar is working. If you uninstall it stops working. So what i did was i changed the LED brightness to 3 in general settings in Illumination bar.(less than 3 values-dont work)

Then your LED notification works with light flow light without the illuminations bar lights as it is very dim.

Short description about the problem and how to replicate it: The phone notification sound goes off. It resumes after restarting the phone but again it goes off after certain time. This problem didn't resolved even after i updated the firmware released on 3rd Dec.

After severe testing found the culprit of notification bug. The bug appears when we end an outgoing call the USSD code is displayed with default notification considering the notification is working on all apps and if the code displays without ringing the notification stops working on all apps after then. BTW I am a Vodafone (India) prepaid customer, an USSD code is displayed with balance info after ending outgoing calls. I have been testing it since 1 month and caught this bug when i did not make any call for 1 week the notification was working fine, since when i made call the notification stopped working. Tried this process about 10 times and can confirm that this bug appears after ending call (P.S. not incoming calls). Only solution for notification working back is restarting the phone. Haven't tried this on postpaid connection so I think its due to USSD code. Postpaid connection users kindly confirm.

this is exactly the same issue I found, if I receive a network notification after I send an sms, then the notification sound for that notification dosn't work, then the sms notification sound stops working as well.

I had to configure my settings on the network to stop sending me notification messages (after each balance operation) and all notification sounds have been working fine for 3 months now.

I live in Egypt btw, so the issue is common, I don't think it happens in some countires and doesn't in some.

Ok then the issue is confirmed related to USSD code when you do an outgoing activity from network , and yeah we too receive USSD info after sending SMS, forgot to mention cause I don't SMS rarely. Btw do we have an option to disable USSD code in Android or we need to contact network operator for that. And yeah, hope Sony support team look into this issue soon.

Hi,

I updated my Xperia P to 6.1.1.B.1.54 few days ago and I got a few problems :

1. My notification light for SMS isn't working. It only blinks blue when I push the lock button.

2. Sometimes my contact doesn't wanna open. It hangs on "infinite view" than it comes back to the contact list.

3. My phone often hang without no reason.

4. And it just me or something, I feel my phone become a little bit laggy now.

Can anyone help me?

Yes its the USSD code which is causing the problem on my prepaid connection also. i checked and it was working then i called someone and after that it stopped. Can someone please help if this can be done without contacting the network provider. I cant seem to find any option to dissable it from within the phone.

My problem is that I have changed the 'notification' sound to something different, yet it still plays the basic one when I am notified. My change of notification is saved and playable in the settings menu, but still plays the basic 'beep' when I am notified, why have a list of options that don't work ?

Whenever the problem occurs just turn the airplane mode on then again turn it off. The problem will be solved. I havent found any permament solution
