Xperia J audio problems

My phone has a problem where it will not play audio throught the headphones but will play through the speakers, it's like it doesn't recognize the earphones are there.

But when I restart the phone and immediately insert the earphones it will play the audio through the earphones and not the speakers but when I remove the earphones it will still not be playing sound through the speakers, it doesn't seem to realise that the earphones have been removed. I have to keep turning the phone on and off to switch between the two.

Any ideas on what the problem may be?

It's been happening for 3/4 days now but it seems to have fixed itself almost as soon as I posted this

It happened again and I waited a while for it to fix itself... it never did. I downloaded an app called SoundAbout which allowed me to fix the problem, it can be a bit of an awkward work-around at times, but it does the job and I'm happy enough with it and have had no problems with it so far.

Hopefully this helps someone else with similar issues.

Same problem I am having right now for last one week.  Its really making me getting iritate on this phone.

Can some one help me how to fix it.  I tried installing the SoundAbout software also.  But no luck.
