Does XPeria E have a hardware or firmware problem?
I just purchased a new XPeria E and it has been a HUGE disappointment!!
It does not connect to my home wi-fi router (Linksys) - tried everything WPA, WPA2, WEP, etc.. Its wi-fi does not work except with open networks. Everything else (Samsung smartphone, Nokia Lumia, and an older XPeria phone and laptop) work just fine.
I read somewhere that wireless security should be disabled in order for the phone to connect - this is ridiculous. Why should anyone have to disable wireless security just for the phone? I mean at malls or public places it is understandable, but for my private network why should I disable security?
This phone has been such a let down - the only Sony product I purchased in a long time and that too turned out to be a dud.
To the guys at Sony: Wake up!! Your brand has become much bigger than your quality...it will not sell any more if things go on like this!
I finally could get my money back Rohitbd, and aquire a Nexus 4 through google.com
I see difficult trusting a Sony phone again in the future.
Congratulations, Isaac! I feel very happy for you. As for me I don't think the shopkeeper here will agree to refund the money (most probably at the shop the network is open, so he will not see the problem)...and they won't exchange the phone for a similarly priced one of different brand. I guess the only way out for me is to look for an online shop that does this.
Thanks mate, in Spain law says you can "desist" from a buying contract for 7 days.
So as long as the problem was for the model (showed them this forum) they had to accept the devolution. More over, they included in the bill an abusive point (declared so by spanish court on 2008) as they were giving me a "ticket" worth the money with an expiry date of 6 months (which that court declared illegal).
So I could void the buying contract/bill and ask them for full refund. It took only 5 minutes when I showed them the forum issues + court resolution.
Dunno how all that may apply to your country laws, but my advice would be to check them. The phone is not working as advertised, so most probable think is you can void the contract. It's not shops problem, but it's the shop who selled it to you. It's them who need to fight with Sony, not the costumer!
You are right, but the way things go here, the time (and perhaps money) I'll need to spend to get them to acknowledge there's a problem is not worth it. I'll simply use the phone for some time and then exchange it in some buy-back programme or use it as a test device (I have downloaded the android SDK to learn android programming and this device will make a nice test subject: Great if it works. And no worries if it gets destroyed, at least I'll get to learn something!).
Posted a (possible) solution here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-E/Issues-with-Xperia-E/m-p/336137#M682
I have this same problem with my Xperia E (C1505). I can't connect with my router Linksys WAG200G.
I install update to my router but this didn't improve problem with connect.
My sister has Nokia Lumia 610 and she can connect with my router. My cousin has Samsung Galaxy S3 and he also can connect with my router so I think that this is problem with software my phone (Xperia E).
Today I install update to my phone but still I can't connect with my router.
I have question to Sony:
Do you improve this? When? Do you work on this issues now?
I am disappointed that Xperia E has this bug because I can't use my home internet (wifi)...
I hope that you improve this

Hi all!
I had a problem with Xperia E and Linksys WAG200G router, the connection could not be established.
I have solved it by setting security mode from WPA2-mixed to WPA2-personal. My router's firmware is 1.01.09, I don't have MAC address filtering, DHCP is on.
Hopefully this will help somebody else to establish connection between phone and router.
