Hello,
Thanks for reading this.
We've just brought our first Sony Smartphone - an Xperia E. We Like the phone, but are having terrible problems
trying to connect to our home wifi, which is working for every other device.
- The phone "sees" the router and strong signal - seems to try to connect but then returns a "saved" message, rather than actually connecting.
- My Netgear DG834Gv2 router has the latest firmware.
- The Xperia E is Android 4.1.1 using build 11.3.A.2.13. There seems to be a newer Xperia software version available according to the Sony website - 11.3.A.3.23 but the phone update software from Sony says my phone already has the latest version, so I can't update
- I've tried turning all the router's wifi protection off and the phone then recognises I now have an unprotected wifi network, but it still refuses to connect. (obviously I've turned it back on now!). When locked I'm running WPA-PSK protection, but as I say, it doesn't connect when there's NO protection, so i presume it's not that.
Amazingly, the phone WILL connect to an unlocked BT FONE hotspot in the town. So is my phone incompatiable with my router?
I see from this support forum that many other users seem to be having similar issues.
Has anyone managed to resolve the problem?
Has anyone managed to update their phone to the latest software version? Does that resolve the issue?
Thank you in advance for any replies...
Yours,
A frustrated Xperia E user.
Hi Pete,
I had a problem with Xperia E and Linksys WAG200G router, the connection could not be established.
I have solved it by setting security mode from WPA2-mixed to WPA2-personal. My router's firmware is 1.01.09, I don't have MAC address filtering, DHCP is on.
Hopefully this will help you to establish connection between your phone and router.
