Hello,
two days ago I updated my Xperia Arc S to Android 4.0.3 and since that time battery life is extremly reduced (i.e. 8 hours). Until that update I had Android 2.3.4 and battery life in the same conditions was 24-36 hours. I checked battery usage and found out that against old version of Android there was new item called "OS Android" which had pretty high consumption of the battery. At the same time there is also item called "System Android". As far as I remember this second item was even in the Android 2.3.4, but it has very low consumption. What is the difference between both items and why the first one takes so much of energy even in idle mode (i.e. during the night)? I'm very disappointed by the update to ICS. Does anybody reported this issue already? Do you have any solution for this?
Thank you very much in advance.
here are some other methods to backup your data
I am also facing same low backup problem after upgrade to ICS. I use 3G with data active all the time.n Earlier before upgrade backup used to be for 8-10Hrs but after ICS upgrade backup is hardly 3-4Hrs.
Also handset is heating very badly after ICS upgrade.
Details of the software are:-
Android Version:- 4.0.3
Kernel Version:- 2.6.32.9-perf
Build No.:- 4.1.A.0.562
Me too. I just updated my phone to ICS and I have noticed that the battery charge is decreasing drastically. Hope Sony would come-up with a resolution on this.
Hi Guys,
Found workaround for improving Battery Backup & Heating issue.... observed the same personally.
Exchange mail seems to have some bug and uses Battery a lot thereby leading to poor backup and heating handset.
Try without using Exchange Mailand feel the difference.
Request SONY to release patch for correcting Exchange Mail.
Hi Guys,
I'm back. Yesterday I completely re-installed my Xperia according to what Anubhav recommended. Since the phone was completely re-installed, I was amazed. Battery life was great. I had still more than 60% of capacity after 19 hours! But I should say, until that time I didn't have Exchange Mail set. Now, already 2 hours my Exchange Mail is set and I'm awaiting the result. Will surely keep you informed.
Back with results after complete re-installation. Now using even Exchange and must say it didn't change anything on battery lifetime. By this I can fully recommend complete re-installation instead of just an update. The difference in battery life is huge!
Anyone using push mail (hotmail on default mail client) on ICS and have a fast battery drain? I experienced a super fast discharge when I setup pushmail on my arc s with ICS.
it has to do with how often you want the email app to check for new emails
