Hello,
two days ago I updated my Xperia Arc S to Android 4.0.3 and since that time battery life is extremly reduced (i.e. 8 hours). Until that update I had Android 2.3.4 and battery life in the same conditions was 24-36 hours. I checked battery usage and found out that against old version of Android there was new item called "OS Android" which had pretty high consumption of the battery. At the same time there is also item called "System Android". As far as I remember this second item was even in the Android 2.3.4, but it has very low consumption. What is the difference between both items and why the first one takes so much of energy even in idle mode (i.e. during the night)? I'm very disappointed by the update to ICS. Does anybody reported this issue already? Do you have any solution for this?
Thank you very much in advance.
if you have your data plan on or wifi/bluetooth on it will drain your battery a lot faster, 12hrs is more or less normal with a smartphone, so if you had 24+ hours thats impressive and a bit unreal
go to settings -> about phone -> battery use and take screenshots
but first charge it 100% let it drain to 10% and post your results here, do not charge it in between and make sure to also include the graph
Hi, thanks for such a quick response. I didn't use Bluetooth and Wifi at all. I let my cell switched on even during the night and with old version of Android it remained charged 24 hours without problem. Of course during the night it was only in standby mode. During the night it took usually about 10-15 percents of battery. But now I had about 40 percents in the evening and in the morning the cell was switched off and completely discharged. My only question now is, how to make screenshot in the ICS, because I didn't find this function (comparing to Android 2.3.4).
Thanks once more.
press power and volume at the same time
Great, it works!
Will come back with screenshots as soon as I have them.
we'll be waiting
Finally back with results. My cell was charged fully yesterday morning. Below you can see screenshot. As you can see from the picture, during the morning it was discharging again very fast. The same way it was discharging during two previous days. But then suddenly something happened and it became better. And I should say, the cell was used for the whole period of time the same way. So, finally it took about 26 hours until I got to 10% of battery charge. Before, it was only 8 hours.I will also attach second screenshot with detailed graph. To me it seems like two or three days after update to ICS the cell had very high consumption of energy and then it suddenly became better. I have no idea why, because the cell was used the same way whole the time. Pls let me know about your comments.
As I promised I'm attaching detailed graph of battery consumption...
wow that's rather impressive, but it makes sense now your battery last so long (24+ hrs) since you are using 2G, go to settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> select GSM that should save you some battery.
Hi,
I was suffering with same battery drain problem till yesterday but now I have got a solution to make phone faster after ICS update.
NOTE : keep backup of contacts, messages as this will format your phone.
1) After installing ICS once.
2) connect phone to PC via pc companion.
3) Click Support zone.
4) Now click start button on Phone software update. click on repair link.
5) follow steps mentioned on screen and click next, next, next ... till your phone get updated with new software.
NOTE : keep backup of contacts, messages as this will format your phone.
I did same steps yesterday and now feeling much better with ICS. battery backup has lot more improved.
REASON : since sony has just updated your old OS with new OS. This was making some uncompatible changes which slowed down performance and sucked the battery.
You will feel much much better after following these steps..
Let me know if this helps you..
