Wifi doesn't connect after android 6 update

Hi!

I have a Z3c and my friend has Z3 and Z4 tablet We also have the same type of router (Genexis Platinum-4440).

The wifi connection worked fine with these phones for about a year (earlier android versions). But the minute we installed android 6 the problem started. (I even downloaded the update package using the the wifi.) After the update phone tries connecting to wifi-network but after a while it says: ip-configuration error.

I have tried to reset network settings but it didn't help. I tested with a nother router that the phones wifi works. But changing my genexis router to another is a tricky problem and after all it worked fine with earlier android version so my point of view the problem is in the phones operating system. Also the new update to phone didn't fix the problem (phone says that the newest version is build 23.5.A.0.575)

Hi,

It's the hidden WiFi networks. After we made the update to Android 6, my phone no longer connects to WiFi networks saved. They appear to saved networks, but does not connect. I have deleted and added again, but the next day is doing again!!!! What can I do?

Do you experience the same in safe mode?

Hi!

Same problem occurs in safe mode. Phone tries to connect but after a while it says "ip configuration error".

I tried using static ip and managed to get the wifi connection to the router but not to internet. (phone says there's no internet connection an disconnects the wifi in a few seconds. This happens few times and then it stops.) My computer works fine using the same wifi and has internet connection.

Have to add a 'me too!' here.

I updated to Marshmallow two days ago and since then it keeps dropping my wifi connection and then refusing to reconnect until I turn toggle the wifi off & on. This certainly never happened previously with Lollipop and neither with Marshmallow on my Nexus 7 tablet, the only change is the Sony update...

There is an added problem with it dropping wifi in that it falls back to using my mobile data which then runs down my credit so I have to remember to keep it off when at home now!

There doesn't seem to be any particular timing to the loss of wifi connection but I have noticed it occuring a once or twice a day so far. I am happy to provide more info to help solve this issue.

Phone Details: Z3 Compact, Android 6.0.1, Build: 23.5.A.0.575

Update:

After uninstalling and reinstalling apps as per my other post this issue seems to have been resolved.

Same thing for me, same mobile phone as Cas0, same version and build

aaaaaaaaaaa

I was warned about Sony and their updates of software but I ignored it, and now this 😕

I'm deeply disappointed.

I rebooted in safe mode and it doesn't happen, at least it didn't happen at first, I didn't wait for it to happen.

What could that mean?

Also, sometimes rebooteing the device did the trick and sometimes rebooting the router. But sometimes even that didn't work.

Also, other devices don't have such problems.

edit: it happens again, even after force restart with simultaneously pressing power button and volume down or up

Since recent upgrade my WiFi does not connect and the SD card is apparently corrupt. Not happy

Count me in too for this.

If I go out of signal of a password protected wifi, the phone is unable to reconnect to that network when I come back in range.

Instead, it asks me to connect to free wifi networks that the phone has found available, apparently. But, at the same time, the former network appears in the list discovered.

I have a Z3C, operating on Marshmallow built 23.5.A.0.575

Same problem for me too.

Also, I don't get notifications on yahoo mail nor facebook messenger during that time 😕

Hi all

I'm getting this problem too.

Though it's annoying, there's a simple workround - switch the screen off and on again a second time and you should normally reconnect.

I got this exact problem with lollipop when it first came out. It eventually got fixed by the 3rd lollipop patch.

Regards,

Gary
