I've had my E3 since December 2014. It was fine all last year. Then in March of this year, the screen died, I sent it off to virgin (my mobile network) to be fixed, they fixed it, we're fine. Then in August I smashed the screen, nbd, I just live with it. This all backstory, fyi.
THEN, about 2 weeks ago, my phone started doing the (fairly common) thing where it turns itself off and then keeps restarting. I looked on here. I found out how to do the system update thing. I did it, we were fine, which was good bc I was going on holiday the next day. The holiday was a week long. I got back last Wednesday, and low and behold, it does the thing again that night. Great. Annoying, but I just re-updated it, and we were fine.
Guess what happened again tonight?
I don't mind having to re-update it (again). It's a pain, but I've become a pro at the system update, so it doesn't even take that long anymore. I'm more concerned that keeping doing this will do some lasting damage to the phone. And no one else on here seems to have this be a repeat problem - is there some damage I did when I smashed the screen? Is there something else I could do to fix it completely? Should I send it off to virgin again and get them to sort it? Or should I just bite the bullet and get a new phone? (Bear in mind I am a poor student and really cannot afford to do anything extravagant). Pls help
I think it's more of a hardware issue than a software issue, whenever you get that constant reboot > remove both SIM and SD cards, see if you experience the same problem. You should send it in to get inspected.
I did take them out the first time I updated, I was paranoid that the system wipe would wipe them as well, but then I read that it wouldn't so didn't do it the second time. I'll have a go, though, and see if it makes a difference. Thanks
Hi @Marshall22,
Welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear abour your experience with your Sony mobile.
I do agree that a physical repair would be the best option. Contact your Local support and they might be able to give you an idea of cost.
