Today i tried to connect S2 with my P thourgh WFD , but couldn't able to establish a connection !!
S2 was able to detect my phone, but phone doesnt have even have menu options for that feature !?!?!?!?
I want to ask moderators to reply if WiFi direct in ICS ( especially P ) can be used to normal media transfer data between phones ( SONY based and non SONY based ) ???
It would help me to determine if my hardware is faulty or i would have made a mistake not going for S2 !!!!
Dont ask me for software repair already done 3 times since ICS launch
I Swear never to recommend SONY to anybody !!
If WiFi direct feature is only for SONY compatible devices ( except handsets )
there are other threads on this topic, and Sony Moderators sent this request to Sony Developers, I hope they do add it on a future update

Regarding Android Beam
settings > more > NFC (check this) > wait few seconds > tap on Android Beam
When this feature is turned on, you can beam app content to another NFC-capable device by holding the devices close together. For example, you can beam browser pages, YouTube videos, People contacts, and more.
Just bring the devices together (typically back to back) and then touch your screen. The app determines what gets beamed.

No thread has answered this question directly, everybody is mentioning about DLNA, and connected apps, that is to be used when on a Router, but WFD is meant to be used without a router !!!
Indeed its quite convenient, using airdrop on macs running osx lion it's a time saver.
some more info
Either you are not getting my question or you are trying to play safe by being neutral !!
i cant send or accept pairing request from another wifi direct device, what use is this feature then ???
