Why we have Device Specific androids

I wonder understand why We have device specific firmwares, not only Stock firmwares are dependant on devices but custom ones too.

So why?

Whats part of the firmware is dependant?

The explanation is too complex, every devices have different hardware configurations so every device must have its own software.

     - Oh but, computers are also different from each other and all them can run the same software...

Yes, the OS on our computers also need 20 - 40 GB for installation and even like this all them need specific software or specific drivers!!
