Why Is My Screen Like This ??? Second Z1s, and same problem.

Either there's something wrong with the Z1s screen or I've received two faulty products in a row.

I've noticed that despite being on full brightness, with auto adjust OFF, the screen adjusts its contrast, brightness, and tint depending on the colors on what's displayed on the screen:

When there are bright colors and white on the screen, the pictures are gorgeous and vibrant.

When the picture on the display is black, dark, or gray, everything goes to **bleep**. The brightness is lowered, the contrast is lessened, and whatever white there is on the screen becomes grayish.

One example that everyone can try is on the touchscreen diagnostic test under Settings>About Phone> Diagnostics>Test Device>Touchscreen. When you begin the test, the yellow is dull, but as you continue to "draw" and as more yellow appears on the screen, the yellow becomes increasingly vibrant. It shouldn't be like that. The yellow line should maintain a constant vibrancy throughout the test.

Another example is on the "Reddit Sync" app. In the app, go to settings and turn it to night mode so that the interface is dark and grey. When you click on a post that has an ad on the bottom that constantly changes, you notice the screen adjusts whenever the ad adjusts. Like when the add has bright colors, you notice the rest of the screen adjust to a brighter tint. When it changes to a darker ad, it again adjusts.

This becomes ridiculously annoying when you start typing when your keyboard is dark or grey. With every button press the screen flickers as it adjusts to the letters that pop up as you type.

Does this happen to everyone or am I just unlucky? I otherwise like the phone, and I would be willing to sweep small problems under the rug, but this problem is huge.

To try and illustrate heres a picture that shows a noticeable difference on my Nexus 4, and both of the Z1s' I had. Which is unacceptable considering the N4 (it even has a matte screen protector that ruins the image quality a bit) was half the cost of the Sony.

Looking at the letters, you can obviously how muddled the whites are.

(NOTE: Yes I know the use of two different cameras at different settings and different times changes what is shown. I do not have any other cameras besides these phones, so bear with me. But trust me, the difference you see IS what I'm seeing in real life. Just focus on the letters and not the other details.)

Anybody? My last day to return is tomorrow, but I'd be willing to try once more if I just happened to get two faulty phones.

Try unticking X-Reality for mobile, Settings > Display.
Hope this helps. The pucture seems fine in my Z1.
