Where are my app notifications?

Hi there - new Z1 compact owner! Great phone so far but....

I have a lot of apps that send me notifications on my old Galaxy S4 in the notifications bar. Facebook, ESPN, Google Voice, etc., but none of these are showing up in the notifications bar on my new Sony - or if they do, it's often hours after they should be notifying me.

On top of that, the push email (Google/Gmail) seems slow, sometimes 10 minutes after getting a message. I have checked all of my power settings and am not doing any battery saving things. I have also made sure that all apps are able to send notifications.

What is the problem? I have restarted several times...I'm about ready to wipe the phone and start over. I am on the latest 4.4.4 OS.

Do you have stamina enabled?

Unfortunately not. I figured that might have been it, but it's definitely off, along with every single power saving feature that I can find.

Given that all of these are data based services I am wondering if there is an issue with your data connection. I would advise re-downloading the Internet settings: Main Menu > Settings > More > Internet Settings > Accept.

I tried that about an hour ago...let's see if that helps.

Here's a question - is it possible that a lot of apps' notifications only work on certain phones? For example, my email is now coming through just fine. I'm getting my texts through Google Voice just fine. But I don't get ESPN alerts, Instagram notifications, or news alerts from Yahoo's news app. But I do get Twitter alerts.

That is up to the various applications themsevels as opposed to the phone. It is also worth checking the that notifications box is ticked for each of the apps in question in the "Apps" section of settings.
