Water damage z3c

Tried checking the waterproof feature on my new phone. Held it under the tap for about 10-20 seconds, made sure to check that both flaps were definitely shut. All seems fine for a minute or so afterwards at which point it shuts itself off with three buzzes and hasn't turned on since, will briefly display sony but then three more buzzes and nothing. Have got it in a bag of rice now. I guess I should take it back to where I bought It but is there anything I should check before I do. Thanks

I've a had a similar problem when I got drench in the rain... the Z3C phone was in the my pocket the whole time but 2 hours later... the phone just gave up the ghost with moisture in the lense.  So much for a water proof phone...

....also not impressed by Sony's online repair system.   Submitted a fix request form online ... no further information on where to send the phone and no other details - just got a response a month back saying it was closed... 

A pointless exercise. 

.... reluctantly looking towards an Apple iPhone next time... at least their promises are not advertised as being complete ...

Had the same problem when tried it out in a pool, after a few days I took it to an official Sony service,they repaired it and said it was liquid damage,after a few words with them they gave me a brand new one.
