It is not designed to be held under a tap, because that gives much more water pressure than just holding it under still water.
I took my Z3 Compact into the pool yesterday and it died in less than 5 minutes. I double and triple checked that all the port covers were firmly closed and it still got water inside. After taking it out of the pool, I dried it off and checked inside the port covers...sure enough, one of them was wet inside. Now the phone won't turn on at all.
I've contacted both Sony suport and the website where I bought it. Somebody is going to replace this thing.
I have had the same issue with my Z3.
After 2 days i held it for 10 seconds under water and it buzzed, glowed and died. This phone is not 100% waterproof, I wouldn't recommend putting it under any water at all.
I have sent mine back to Sony for evaluation as Three where I bought it refused to do anything and basically told me that it had been submerged in water so not their problem. It's sold as WATERPROOF!
I have cheked all Sony's advertising and their rating means it should be fine to go underwater. I will let you know their response.
so i'm not the only one who's having issue with this thing; my phone just died after 10 minutes inside a glass of water...

By any chance, does one or both of your flaps have a tendancy to come undone by itself after a while? Are the flaps flush against the side of the phone?
