Walkman 8.4.A.4.4 update

A new version of our Walkman application has started to roll out.

The roll out happens gradually as usual and should hit your device soon.

The 8.4.A.4.4 update contains.

Indication of currently playing music in Walkman® home. Quickly see what you are listening to.

Bug fixes and performance enhancements.

I think that a color selection for the app would be nice. I'm SO tired of the purple color and I want something different.

is not possible after all the updates that the shuffle repeat always the same songs .... you do something.... random mode really bad !!!

After updated to 8.4.A.4.4, i can not retrieve my song back from sd card data on E1 dual.. why??

The buffering problem (short breaks in music when playing music from SD Card) is much better but not fully sorted out. There are still some temporary breaks. I am using a Class 10 SD Card and with other music players (e.g. MediaMonkey) this problem does not exist. So it is relateted to the Sony Walkman App.

Some more still missing functions and faults:

1) Cross-fading between tracks is really missing.

2) Where can I select what is visible on the Walkman Home Screen (Artist, Album, Playlist, Titel)? This very nice function was available in version 8.4.A.0.4 of the Walkman App. Why has it been removed? For me current home screen is just chaos.

3) Why isn't there a message when I add a track to a playlist and the song is already there ("duplicate track")?

4) Number of tracks in a playlist?

5) Old bug (still there for months): move track in playlist und function "edit playlist": sometimes two tracks are moved but only one track is selected for moving

SONY, would be great to have these improvements in the next version.

I have xperia Sp model. Can you bring in the feature where the light bar doesnt go off when you come out of walkman and the music is playing. Basically no matter whats on the screen the light bar should glow with the music till the music is playing. It should be on even the screen is locked and the music is playing. . Hope you will consider this request. Thanks for listening.

I have a problem with the downloadable music info from gracenote. It has worsened. My songs have been renamed with Chinese or Korean or japanaese characters I can't understand. The album art is not the correct album art for a lot of my songs. A lot of songs also have album arts recycled from my photo downloads which are irrelevant. Please provide an erase all downloaded details for all songs so I can rename them one by one if you can't fix it. Suggestions: provide an alpabetical scroller to easily navigate songs; If I'm on shuffle and I want to play one song, please don't allow this app to lose my previous Playlist because what happens is when I tap on a song, it comes back to the alphabetical Playlist and/or worst, just play that song and lose what I was previously playing.

Adding further to Linuz, i wonder our walkman does not support volume key as prev & next button for the song. This should be noticed as well.

I experienced a new problem with this latest update. My songs are not played to full length. It says "cannot play the song" in the middle and goes to the next one. The player itself chose which song to play and which not to. This is really embarrassing. Quality is degrading and bugs/issues are increasing with the updates. Not only Walkman but the whole android community (stock & custom roms) is a disgrace to technology. Blackberry & Windows phone are much better. Wish i shouldn't had shifted.

And probably the biggest improvement I'd have to see?

1. When selecting "Queue songs..." insert the new songs AT THE END of the current play queue. As someone who plays albums in track order more than shuffle, it's annoying to queue and album - start playing - queue another album and have it play after the first song of the first album.

2. Remove tracks from the Queue when played. It is a queue after all, queues generally get shorter.

3. Prevent duplicate tracks from being queued.

The Walkman app is by far one of the best media players I've ever used on Android ( which I'd expect from Sony and their musical legacy ), but just a few minor tweaks.......
