Touch screen issue on 260

Just purchased the Z4 tablet about a week ago, immediately upgraded to build 28.0.A.8.260.

I noticed there was touch screen issue, wheres it dosen't register tap input randomly, especially simultaneous tap.

It is especially difficult to type or play rythm games where tapping are very important when it randomly dosen't register input.

Swiping seem to be working fine though.

I did a bit of googling and found threads on this topic on both Sony support forum (this forum), and XDA forum where there has been this same issue on previous build, and many user had claimed that it has been fixed since build 260...but this dosen't seem to be the case...

My set is SGP771 LTE rev.2 if that makes any different...

@CarrotChopper

Could you test it while on safe mode

Just tested on safe mode, same issue. Missed keystroke while typing sentences, didn't respond randomly while selecting multiple image in album (some wasn't selected when you tap on them)...etc

@CarrotChopper

Does it has a protective film or glass?

I uses the official style case and tempered glass.

Removing the case doesn't make any different.

But can't remember if it happened before the tempered glass was put on.

I see that many people (on the 251 thread and XDA forum) claim that it should have been fixed on 260 even with tempered glass put on though...

I have also contacted Sony support and waiting for reply.

@CarrotChopper

You should remove the glass > clean the screen > test it

I've seen others with similar issues bc of a tempered glass and/or film protector.

Hi @CarrotChopper

If this has only been noticeable since you performed an update, I would suggest trying a software repair.

Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:

  1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
  2. Phone Software Update.
  3. Start.
  4. Repair Phone
  5. Continue
  6. Accept data removal
  7. Next
  8. Wait for prepare
  9. Select Phone
  10. Follow the connection steps

And Bridge for Mac:

  1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
  2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
  3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
  4. Select Continue on the following page.
  5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.

6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears

  1. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.

You will want to start these processes with the tablet powered off and disconnected from the PC.
