I got my tipo on 22nd September. But only today i noticed that the drag or hold on the touchscreen never works! Be it for deleting home screen icons or the design unlocker thing. Is this a common problem. Also i am from kolkata,India.And it seems like no sony service centera are in my city. What to do?
Dude give it back to your dealer and tell him you have changed your mind and want another model, till you still have time. I bought it a little while ago and took a while before getting back to my dealer, and now I am stuck. And these people here at Sony are not even trying to help! They are simply denying there is a problem.
I suggest you wait until tomorrow afternoon. If our concerns are taken seriously, we shall have a satisfactory reply here. Else, save yourself!

Also,my results with the service tests are nowhere close to that of Nabeel's. When drawing a line only half of that is sensed most of the times. But the problem is not restricted to any part of the screen. Its just random.
I was refering to the calibration done at sony service centr.

heres the touchscreen test that i carried out and i drew almost the same as u explained in ur post
Here you see the first image is a box and my name in middle"Mahesh" but it went the worse way it could
and second one
is just full lenght horizontal and vertical lines but got only broken ones, and there are 2 lines missing completly in the bottom
So my question is when lot of people complaing of the same problem what kind of solution is sony going to bring for us?
Help us Samuel , I am facing this problem in my second mobile that is replaced for the one which had the same problem.
hey,just returned from Sony service centre with my touch screen as smooth as butter!
Update your phone S/W at sony service centre.
All users with abnormal results should get their phone examined at service center
Others should try a software repair

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts,apps)
Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS
PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).
Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

SUS ( Sony Update Service) ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions

I've done what you said and still Naabel malfunctioning, have if sony pulls a patch to correct the bug because it is a good phone. will be cheaper to fix the patch all phones ....
okay i have tried the software update using PCC and completed the update but no improvement at all!
Also, my city does not have a Sony Service Centre. I will have to travel more than a 100 kms to get to one! So please try updating the software online itself. Atleast give us the touch calibration software spoken about in this post, perhaps a s
