Note: My Sony Xperia Z is full updated, latest software, runs smoothly.
Issue:
For a few weeks my device has sometimes not recognised a charger when the device is turned on.
I have tried the original sony charger and other chargers eg samsung chargers.
After I restarted the device, the phone recognised the charger.
However, the problem reoccured and I attempted to use the same solution above but without luck.
I shut down the phone and connected the charger but it did not work.
It only displays the red LED light for 30 seconds, then attempts to boot into charging mode, displaying Sony only for the screen to turn black seconds after.
It constantly does this^ when a charger is connected.
I tried to run the device completely flat and charge it from dead but I have read that if the device is completely flat, it may take up to 30minutes to display the red LED light.
I am currently using a laptop and the sony charger USB to try to charge it. It recognises the laptop power source to charge (displaying the LED) but it keeps trying to boot itself but failing (Sony displayed, screen goes black seconds after).
Note: The laptop does not recognise the device but has in the past + Sony PC companion software is installed.
I am unsure what to do from here and I have searched online with little help or a solution.
Please help, thank you.

Sony Help !!!
i have the same problem, i bought my sony XZ2 one mounth ago and I have the same problem one week ago !!
I have been experiencing a similar problem with my Sony Xperia Z. It is now nine months old and still under guarantee. The phone charges only intermittently and then only up to a point before the light goes off. At times it will not recognize the charger or the computer. I have tried it in various plugs and with and without an extension lead. Finally in desperation I took it back to the place of purchase. They sent me to another place which it in town and a long way from where I live. I took it in and then had to go back to collect it. They said that they had replaced the charging socket. I got it home and it stopped charging after reaching 40%. In the meanwhile they had deleted all my contacts, all my settings, all the photographs and messages. This took me a further afternoon to fiddle with and still the phone will not charge. They have happily said, bring it back. This is not reasonable. It has cost me endless time, endless frustration. as a professional my time is money and my phone is important. I am desperate and very anti Xperia at the moment. Please suggest something helpful. Pamela
Did anyone find a solution for this?
I'm getting the same thing, was working absolutely fine yesterday and today won't recognise the charger. tryed both pc and wall sony plugs + samsung.
when the phones off and I plug it in the battery symbol pops up as if it recognises being plugged in but doesn't charge at all.
phones only a month old, not impressed.
My sony only charges when the batterry is drained, meaning i have to use the phone until its on 0% then it will charges, the phone wont charge when it is on and it wont charge when theres still battery life on or off, it has to be 0% before it charge. what can be the problem?
