Hopeless is all I can say about Sony support. No one seem to be informed about my product: xperia z1. The cover to the USB port fell apart; one half stayed in the phone the other fell in my hand. Up till now nobody at Sony support can tell me what to do. I was on the line with them for 40 minutes with this issue alone. A high percentage of the staff seem sleepy or intoxicated.
I made an appointment to be called back to resolve an issue and was never contacted.
The chat feature on their web site is not working as of this note.
I would not have purchased the Xperia if I had known how bad the support was going to be.
Maybe it is due to holiday season now. Which country are you in and which support line have you contacted?
In your case, I suggest you go to the repair center, if you don't know where is it, make a call to your local contact center.
