i always have been a huge sony fan for over 15 years...
few months ago i bought the flagship, XperiaZ1....
now i hate sony!!
i need to fix my XperiaZ1, to do that, i installed companion, but my computer needs 5GB free space to repair my Smartphone, too bad the stupid program wont let me install it on 😧 where i have 500GB free space!!!
why do i need to repair my phone? because the touchscreen isn´t working anymore!! if i hold a spot, it randomly taps in any words!!
put it in Standby and press hardly on the touchpad is helping until i put it back into standby....
so i wrote Xperia care...nice chat tool....they told me to use repair function of companion, too bad not working now!!

also i received a lot of stuff with xperia "privilege" ohhh nice, too bad i can´t download that stuff, and yes, i have all apps and accounts, but the "free stuff" is gone...
Why don't you contact Sony directly?
I can say that the reason PCC needs the space is so it can have room to download the firmware, then it extracts the firmware and then installs it to your phone leaving behind the files - so if you have previously updated or performed a repair on your phone then it's possible these files still exist on your Pc which could be cleared to make room - Check the directory called or found here C:\ProgramData\Sony Mobile\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs you may have to show hidden files and folders to see program data folder
any other programm could be installed on 😧 and end of story....but sony is trash quality!! so it cant!
i dont care about the reason, my pc has 500GB FREE SPACE!! and this program is too stupid to realise it!
and i did install it the very first time....
no offense on you guys, you try to help me, but i am really pissed becaue my 600€ Smartphone is broken after 3months!!
and i did contact sony directly, a few times already because of problems, it takes days to WEEKS until i get an answer, my touchpad isnt working, i dont want to wait for DAYS or WEEKS!
i did increase HDD size now....still dissapointed in the poor quality of the program. thx for try to help me
u need proof for the poor quality? now i have enough space on C: HDD....i can repair my smartphone.....in the last step, he ask me..."where i want to safe my backup"!!!!!

I appreciate your patience and valuable input, trying to solce customers problem. Unfortunately, some posters miss the necessary level of manners to direct trouble shooting. I find it extremmely useless to read through posts that lack every kind of basics in view of language and expression.
I always found it interesting to read through some subjects but with the intellectual level sinking beyond recognition, I shall delete my account in this forum because it's masochisme to read most of the nonsense here.
Sorry that you probably don't have the choice, I take advantage of my choice and leace this totally useless plattform. Thanks for the good work. I shall drop by occasionally and see if these nonsense posters are gone.

Marcus - A backup is not a system necessity so you would be given the option however when it comes to re -installing or running a repair then due to registry keys and pre coded values which are designed to point the program in a direction that is required for files to be saved - Decrypted then transferred for installation to your phone, Then it is necessary for C: drive to be used as that is your main drive where Windows is installed to also where folder and files like for example Program Data which is a hidden folder under normal usage or System32 or why not type in your Run or Search bar regedit to see the registry keys.
