I have a new smartwatch (inherited) that won't pair with my Xperia Ion phone. Watch shows proper display, but in Bluetooth setup screen, doesn't show up as available device. Liveware manager is installed on phone.
Download the app

and also
settings > apps > liveware > clear everything > restart your phone and try again
Liveware Manager is now called Smart Connect found here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware&hl=en
On your watch you may have a settings icon then different sliders make sure that Bluetooth on the watch is turned on
Then you should be able to scan for new devices on your phone and pick it up unless the watch is already paired to a device in which case you will need to do a device reset or factory reset to unpair the watch, Then start again and make sure Bluetooth is switched on and rescan
As Uli above has said you will need the Smartwatch app
I've tried all these suggestions, and still no pairing. They're both just hunting. Maybe it's just broken.
Check your watch is visible for pairing by going into settings then Bluetooth then tap on "Make visible for pairing then tap the tick then on your phone scan for new Bluetooth devices
I've done that sequence many times on the phone. There's no options on the watch. Only on/off as far as I can tell.
If its the Smartwatch 2 there is an option to allow visability to pair - In settings at the top it will say Bluetooth, Tap the name then on the next page tap Make visable for pairing then tap the tick then on your phone search for new devices,
If it's the SW1 then you may want to install the Smartwatch app to see if it helps
SW1 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.smartwatch
SW2 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.smartconnect.smartwatch2
Yes, must be a SW1 because I don't get any of those options. Smartwatch app already installed and did nothing that I can see.
I'm sorry I'm all out of ideas other than to test your watch on another phone to see if it works and if it doesn't then it's possible your watch has a Bluetooth fault - If it's still under warranty then I'd try and seek redress
