Smart Connect Vibrate Issue

Hey Guys

I have this phone for about a 1-2 months and im running the jelly bean software.

I seem to have a issue with the sony smart connect application, and im not sure if its a software or hardware problem.

Basically i use the smart connect with the default night setting, which puts the phone into "silent" mode and then back to "normal" mode, between 10pm and 7am. However i have a issue in which about 70% of the time, when the phone goes into "silent" mode at 10pm, it starts vibrating and keeps vibrating for about 10-15 seconds. Other times it just gives off a quick vibrate (both going into sleep and out of sleep), to indicate that its switched modes.

Also i could be wrong, but maybe this constant vibration happens when the battery is drained more than 40%??

Anyway ive uninstalled and reinstalled this application and cleared the cache for it, however the constant vibration keeps happening (around 70% of the time). And it only does the 10-15 second vibration when going into silent mode, not coming out of it. Also i had it when it just kept vibrating and didnt stop until i unlocked the screen.

Does anyone else have this problem?

To me it seems more software, as the issue doesnt happen 1/3 of the time?

The version of the app that im running at the moment is 5.1.5.

did some more testing today.

seems the continuous vibration doesnt occur if the screen is left on.

if the screen is off, then ill get the continuous vibration.

also it seems to happen when i set it to go to "silent" mode only.

if i create a event to send a sms to someone, then the event will be triggered, the phone will vibrate for a split second.

or if i create a event to send a sms and go to silent mode, then the vibration is only for a split second as normal.

so it seems that if i have a combination of the screen off and the event is only set to go to "silent mode" the phone in 90% of the cases will do a continuous vibration.

can someone else test this?

and also can this bug be reported somewhere?

well i dont want to disable the app because i actually want it to put the phone on silent at 10pm and back to normal mode at 7am. but yeah it seems that it might have a strange bug. or it could be hardware related, but highley unlikely.

can someone point me to where i can submit this bug to sony app development?

I've been trying to replicate this problem here but this doesn't happen for me. It doesn't matter if charger is connected before night mode or if i connect it after 22.00. Have you tried to repair the phones software using PC Companion?

i dont have the charger connected at all.

please also remember to only have the mode go to silent and remove the entry for "charger connected"

or create a new entry and tell the phone to go into a silent mode. please also make sure your screen is off.

i also put the smart connect entry into the stamina mode exception too (i have stamina mode turned on).

i also did a repair using pc companion a couple of times, but that hasnt resolved the issue.

Do you think it could be a hardware problem? the phone is just over a month old.

I presume if its a hardware issue, the problem would replicate most of the time? and that

i would get vibration issue when receiving sms, typing etc etc.

For anyone thats interested.

there was a update to smart connect, last week i think.

So far, so good and it seems to have resolved the vibration issue.

i do however notice that sometimes it will enable a even a bit late.

for example i have set my phone to go to silent mode at 9.15pm, however on a few occasions,

its changed it, say around 9.30pm.

well i knew i shouldnt have posted the positive result.

the long vibration came back tonight...went on for about 10 seconds 😞

bumer.

so i guess its not really fixed then.
